Thai food in HK cannot be skipped, in particular for Vancouverite as it's challenging to find a good and authentic Thai restaurant in Vancouver.
My friend told me that we must try Daokeaw Thai Restaurant in Kowloon City. This is extremely popular, and there was always a queue 😂 So I sent a friend to go early to secure a table, and there was already a queue around 5-ish. Fortunately, our group of 9 arrived on time at 6, and we get seated in just 10mins 🤩 🐮Must try roast beef👍 We ordered one medium and one medium-rare. Both were very tender. The sauce was sour and salty, which made the dish more exciting. Highly recommended 💯 🐷The pork jowl meat was fatty and delicious, and the authentic Thai spicy sauce perfectly enhanced the flavor 👍 🐽Both styles of stir-fried minced pork were delicious too, one is spicy and the other is not spicy. The spicy one is really hot, which might not be a good pick for those who can’t take spicy 🦐Tom Yum Goong has full of ingredients, such as tomatoes, pandan leaves, fresh shrimps etc. The Thai spices, and the tomato flavor was outstanding, and it was not too spicy. 🍝The curry chicken, curry mussels and Phad Thai noodles were not very outstanding.
It just costed HKD $150 per person. No wonder so many people think it worths...
Read moreLast mth we came here to try their BBQ beef and others. Because I always seeing long queue of ppl waiting for such signature foods out there. We ordered the BBQ roasted beef and Thai fried rice noodles. The beef really was good n tender at our last visit. Today, we came back again to try such excellent BBQ beef again, with Hai Nam Chicken rice. Oh, very disappointed. The steak came out looked good, we thought we would enjoy again. Somehow, it let us down very very much, even the beef was medium rare, but the quality was bad. The meat was full of fascia, that we were hard to chew and not tender. The chicken was tender, but no taste. So, this lunch was so disappointed. I think it was good before , but when you used low quality meat, you will pay for your name and gone down. Anyway, the garlic baguette were good...
Read moreExtremely disappointed. Went there with high expectations because of the good reviews. Ordered the signature roasted beef, thousand year old egg shrimp cake, belacan chinese broccoli and stirfried vermincelli with seafood. The shrimp cake is quite good but the beef is very soso. The chinese broccoli and vermincelli are simply bad. The sauce doesnt taste like belacan at all, it’s red and kind of reminds me of the korean hot sauce, not mentioning the veggie itself is not fresh at all. The vermincelli is a disaster. The colour distribution is uneven, which makes some of them extremely salty and some of them tasteless. The seafood is just the worst quality you can ever find. They have no texture, flavour whatsoever. The service is also below average and the dishes come in a very strange order. Will never...
