Top Blade Steak Lab — Restaurant in Kowloon

The food and service has really gone down hill after they opened a branch. 2 of us waited for 45 mins before being seated in a 4 seater, and was told we had 60 mins to eat. Halfway through eating we were told to move to a 2 person table because it just freed up and a party of 4 was waiting outside. We refused as this was not mentioned when we were seated, and the staff was stunned and left us alone. Another staff wanted to take our plates before we had finished and as I was still chewing. The same staff took our plates when we had indeed finished but without asking at all and there was still fries on the plate. The steak itself was well cooked, though we did order the more expensive $2xx option, but subjectively the steak seemed a lot smaller than when we visited close to when it first opened. The product doesn't seem to be worth the price, though not expensive for a steak house, it can't really be justified by the unlimited fries alone. Can't say I would visit again unless I know the service and portion size...

Whether the food is good or not, or whether the seats are comfortable, those are secondary. The feeling of entering this place is like being treated as a “french fry thief.” My family of three went in to eat—my kid and my wife don’t eat much—so we thought we’d just order one steak and some side dishes like salad or something. But then they said everyone has to order a main dish, claiming it’s company policy. They also reminded us that there’s a time limit for dining. The only thing I could think of is that they’re worried we’d eat too much of their so-called “unlimited fries.” In reality, we only ate two plates from start to finish. Honestly, how much are fries even worth? If they were valuable, they wouldn’t let people eat them for free. Yet they offer free fries and still nitpick over it. This place is honestly so overrated. First of all the staff kept trying to force the two of us to sit in the two seater even though the restaurant was practically empty. And secondly the food was sub-par. Even McDonalds is better than this, I’m sorry to say. The flat iron steak was alright, and nothing too spectacular, but in my opinion I’ve tasted way better steak at the same price point. The fries were good with the truffle flavour but had the texture of fries that you cooked from the freezer. The portion was pretty small, as well as the burger was so bland and underwhelming.
