Waso used to be one of my favourite restaurants for breakfast whenever I visited Hong Kong. This kwun tong one has just been moved to a new pace, a few steps from the old one… but my gut feeling is correct: price increase and the owner / family member is no longer there, probably it’s a franchise or anyways, once a restaurant expands , you can expect: portion of food is smaller (though still big enough for me), the soup is a little difference than before ( not bad, but there is nuance , I can tell). Read moreCame here for lunch on a weekend and got the signature pineapple bun (ziu1 paai4 bo1 lo4 baau1 招牌菠蘿包) and hot milk tea (jit6 naai5 caa4 熱奶茶). The acidity and juiciness of the tomato and the fried egg paired really well with the fluffy bun and its crunchy top layer, resulting in a great balance of flavours and textures. If you’re visiting on a weekend, be prepared to wait for a bit (shouldn’t be more than 20 minutes) and if you have time, you can visit the Kwun...
Read moreI would recommend eating here early before 11 am. There was a long line when we walked by again around 1300. We ordered the lunch meat with egg and noodles, pork chops, chicken wings, with macaroni in tomato soup, and pork liver, beef, and thousand year old egg with cilantro & noodles. The tomato macaroni had a lot flavor in the broth. The pork chops are super tender. For the amount of money you pay for the pork liver noodles; they give you an ample amount of pork liver with no gamy taste. The noodles were light and the broth was flavorful. I want to eat here again to try the...
