"A Lorcha", which is a Portuguese restaurant, is close to the A-Ma Temple. Food portions are very adequate, and prices are moderate (MOP 60-130). It has a lot of people every day; you must book in advance table, if you want to go. But the restaurant not very big, so there is little crowded, the service is not affected by this. (Food rushed; board cleaning, and change them regularly.) Waiter was cheerful and efficient. As far as I know, the kitchen staffs are all Chinese people, and the boss is a Portuguese-speaking native of Macau. The decoration is nautical style. Restaurant interior design minimalist, white walls, plaid tablecloths, wooden chairs, very family restaurant feel. It is polished wooden beams on the ceiling, on the walls of old photos sailing - the atmosphere is pleasant. When you sit down, the waiter immediately put hot bread; the taste is very solid, but not too dry, good to eat. Although the temptation is high at the beginning, I recommend hanging to dry from these delicious sauces, coming your way. Portugal and the menu is usually a variety of seafood and sauces, usually spicy, often heavy, but there are some Asian accents. And its cuisine, it seems part Portuguese, part of the Chinese people, and partly on the ocean. Portuguese seafood risotto: amazing. Each one is coated with tomato rice, seafood goodness. And there is much seafood here, so fresh. Parsley/garlic clams: Speaking in a vat of covering large enough. It’s just delicious. Plenty of fresh coriander flavor, which balances the taste of garlic and clams. I think this is the best Portuguese...
Read moreWent there with high expectation yesterday. I had clams in olive oil and seafood risotto. The clam is too salty, and the risotto has too much rice with too small seafood. The quality was so disappointing. The worst was the moment I paid. The counterwoman was not honest. I usually use my card in local currency when I take a trip. I had my card blocked not to be approved in KRW. I told her, in advance, she has to do in MOP. She did it KRW on and on, though, saying "Your card isn't working." SheI forced me to pay in cash instead. Terribly embarrassing! I have used it without any problem until then. After returning my I-phone sim card in Korea, I could know what happened in the A Lorcha. There was 7 automatic messages from my credit card company saying "Block International Approval due to KRW...
Read moreI came here tonight with family on day 3 of CNY where Macau was full of tourists and I couldn't even get a taxi (and I needed 2 given our group size) from Taipa to the restaurant. I called up the restaurant and the lady on the phone (whom I believed was the restaurant manager) was nice to send the company car (7seater) to pick me up and fetch us to the restaurant. What's more was that she knew I was already on a rush to catch 2200 ferry back to HK and purposely came to take the order for my table and assured that the food would be sent instantly. I was really pleased with the professional and caring service of her and the staff. Not to mention food was great too! Highly recommended. The only thing was I forget to take some photos...
