Coffee Break (坑口店) — Restaurant in Sai Kung District

Coffee Break has a couple of places around the city including a branch in Mongkok as well as this spot at the TKO Gateway shopping mall in Hang Hau neighbourhood of Tseung Kwan O. They have a fair sized indoor seating area and offer a western cafe food menu along with a range of coffee and non-coffee drinks.

I was in the area recently and stopped for an espresso tonic. Have enjoyed good coffees at their Mongkok branch a couple times in recent years. Unfortunately, what I was served at this Coffee Break branch wasn't good at all. The tonic was completely flat and the espresso very bitter and acidic. The drink tasted off, not enjoyable at all. Hopefully a new barista or just a bad day behind the counter but this a poor showing that would keep me away the next time...

High-quality food, relieved to know that everything was whipped up on the spot! Burgers were fresh and superbly cooked (love the patty a lot). Even the buns was fresh (YES!), not to mention they were sufficiently fried and oiled, unlike those pathetic dry buns at McDonald's. The cheese in the burger was fantastic as well— this is high praise from a cheese lover who normally despised cheddar. The roasted chicken offered a robust taste profile, with the tantalizing taste of spices and smokin' hot chicken meat. What more can you ask for?

What is going on?
