The best pineapple bun in Hong Kong? Some would say so and I would agree. Freshly baked every five to ten minutes or so, expect a queue along with the bread.when I first came at 11:30am, there was no queue, but after lunch at 1:30pm, the queue was LONG, and finally at 2:15pm, it wrapped around the block!
Aside from their popularity, the two of us decided to dine-in at their adhoc cafe and enjoy our bread. The fee for dining in is a drink and the most expensive were around $40 so you decide if thatās worthwhile. Got one pineapple bun and a hot ribena to share and it wasnāt enough š had to get another one afterwards! And before you judge, the bun is so so soft and airy that eating half feels like eating nothing! So I recommend you order one whole bun per person!
The crust is sugary and flaky and crispy this contrasts beautifully with the extremely soft and tender bread with a chewy bite to it, probably due to tangzhong. Unlike other pineapple buns, the middle of this one is slightly undercooked š¤ thus creates this very chewy and mochi-like texture which just elevates the whole bun and make it all the more special. 10/10 pineapple bun and doesnāt make you feel bad afterwards š
$13 is high but worth it. The queue is often long but it moves rather fast. A must visit every time...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe tried their signature Portugal tart, milk tart, and 1 pineapple bun last weekend after lining up for about 5 min. If I had to wait longer, I would definitely have given up as I don't think a 10-min wait is justifiable. Yes, both tarts were hot, crispy on the crust and sweet and tasty in the middle. But for $16 each, I would rather go the one offered in KFC, which sells for $12 each, or $60 for 6. (Btw, there are bakeries in Shamshuipo which sell milk tart for less than $10 each, with crust just as crispy!) Although, to be fair, KFC Portugal tart is slightly smaller, the taste is equally great. Oh, this bakery is one of those traditional eateries which takes cash only. This is another reason I hate waiting in line only seeing people in the front taking minutes just to...

I got one with butter. The crust was so crispy and delicious! And the bun itself was so fluffy! Definitely the best pineapple bun in town. And the butter just made the whole pineapple bun the best bakery item on earth as the cool butter gave you a novel sensation with the warm pineapple bun. Nevertheless, the butter wasnāt too oily nor stuffy for you to eat it. I really love this pineapple bun as everything about it is...
