If you are coming here for dinner, the prices here aren't going to be cheap. In addition, the quality of the seafood that you get in a set meal won't be as good as if you go out and choose from the tanks.

We came here on a Friday for Mother's birthday, and to our lucks there weren't as many people as we have expected. We struggled in between ordering a set meal or to get seafood live from the tanks. At the end, we decided to get a set meal for 3 people, a Pacific geoduck clam sashimi (象拔蚌刺身)and used the clam's inside for a delicious congee, and also some preserved eggs with a Japanese ginger.

The set meal has included: Boiled Shrimp (Extremely Juicy, and fresh. Comes with a garlic soy sauce) Lobster cooked in Cheddar Cheese w/ noodles base (The lobster was chopped into pieces and there was a lot of meat inside it, they provided with a large amount of sauce However, there wasn't that much noodles from the base to fill our tummies with) Steam Scallops w/ Garlic Sauce (Could immediately tell that this was not fresh ones, however, when frozen, the texture of the scallop was still alright, not a lot of vermicelli and the soy sauce was flowing everywhere) Clams in black bean sauce (Normal from outside restaurants, within the shells, there won't be much clams, which this is expected already. However, a positive note is that the sauce used to make this dishes was exceptionally delicious) Pak Choi in Broth (Normal Vegetables, nothing to comment much on) Mantis Shrimp in salt and pepper (This was my favourite dish, however, they have cut up the shrimp in smaller pieces already, and there wasn't a lot of meat inside the shrimp. If we have got the fresh ones from the tank, it would be way way better).

Self-Ordered: Preserved Eggs w/ Japanese Ginger (The preserved eggs were really delicious, whereas the ginger was on the rough side, a bit too old) Geoduck clam sashimi (This was the highlight of the dinner, as it was really fresh and sweet. It has a crispy and sweet taste towards it, which was really delicious. The congee that was made was fresh as well, with a clam taste towards it.

Overall, this meal had it flaws and positives. It is always recommended to come to Sai Kung and try out some seafood restaurant. The price in the end came to an approximate of $2000 HKD and in my opinion, it was worthwhile. Obviously cheaper options could be chosen however, the atmosphere and the ingredients that the chefs has used were the special point. At the end, it came with some complimentary dessert which was...

First of all, note that there are two outlets with the same name so this is the one behind the traditional archway that says "海鲜街" which means seafood street and the signboard at the restaurant has the words "分店" which means branch.

We ordered 3 dishes only for dinner since we were very full from lunch but the quality was really impressive and better than expected. You can select the seafood you want from their display tanks first and then decide on the cooking method.

First up was the poached prawns which didn't have much seasoning to begin with but the prawns were sweet on their own thanks to the inherent flavour of the ocean.

Then the steamed scallops with glass noodles, spring onions and garlic turned out to be even more impressive with the right seasoning and texture. It's rare to see such big scallops in Singapore and not easy to get the texture right for seafood when steaming.

The icing on the cake has got to be the steamed mud crab in egg white which was so fresh and the meat so flavourful that you might be mistaken that additional seasoning was put in to create this flavour. The simplest dishes without further seasoning are the most difficult to master and we were impressed with what we got.

The reasons why I deducted points were for: smoking customers sitting at close proximity when at an outdoor table. You might want to get an indoor table to avoid the toxic smoke from spoiling your dining experience but if you can bear with it for the alfresco experience and view, you can go for an outdoor table. while most of the staff members were very courteous and friendly, there was one who retorted quite rudely when we asked to return the pickles and peanuts on the table. It would be wasteful to leave these lying around when nobody would eat them and we already understood that there would still be charges for tea per person even after returning them so that response was really uncalled for.

Depending on what seafood you choose, the price can vary greatly so do ask for the prices to manage expectations and not get a huge shock when you...

Unfortunately our visit does not warrant more than 3 stars. Will preface we came on a busy day (Monday of Golden week) so not service is and waiting times are not attributing to the overall score. Other than the lovely lady who was just meant to clear plates, service was simply minimal. The waiting times however were atrocious. Just soured the experience having to wait so long, but I feel that it could have been anticipated by us visitors when going to such a popular restaurant on such a busy day.

The food however.... Great: scallops and glass noodles and garlic Meh: Lobster in cheese and spaghetti, Fried Mantis Shrimp, Steamed fish, Snowcrab Bad: Fruit platter (2 orange wedges p.p.)

Service: Good: lady clearing plates was attentive and quick to action Bad: food took forever, food got canceled without informing us, 1 round of drink never came( also wasn't on the bill though unlike the dish). Toilet was beyond foul (and we've had plenty of experiences with having to fill own our bucket with water to flush etc., this was just not cleaned after day(s) of abuse).

Price would have been fine if the food would have been good. Not to mention the service...., But letting the service slide because I know how impossible F&B can be when it's slammed.

4 pax Monday 1st of May 17:15 (Golden week day) 350 HKD...

Recommend the mantis shrimp, and the rock fish (we had it made into a soup broth and then served). Service was great too, they are good at taking away your small eating plates as they fill up with shells and bones. Awesome, fresh, great views!
