The Best Crispy Pork Knuckle

There are a number of international schools in the TKO district as well as expats living here in recent years, attracting western restaurants of good quality to move in.

Situated in the new and chic promenade residential area of TKO, you could enjoy the little yet nice outdoor bar table at Pizza Pig for happy hour, or you could go inside to their modern industrial design dining area like me. They have both local and foreign staff, all are very nice.

Seared Prawn and Avocado Salad ($162) A colourful salad with cherry tomatos, mango, cucumber, avocado and prawns. The flavour is more of a light-hearted, sweet and sour blend. The mixed greens are very fresh, you can tell from the crunchy texture and the taste. Definitely a good starter.

Crispy Pork Knuckle ($308) The skin is super crispy. It is the crispiest pork skin I have tried so far! You can hear the clear crackling sound when you take a bite. The meat is soft and tender, juicy and well-seasoned – not those dead salty one commonly tasted like which I highly appreciate, no matter for its flavour or for my health.

The dish goes with sauerkraut and roasted rooted vegetables. The portion is really big – recommend it to be shared among 3-4 person.

Smoked Salmon Pizza 15’’ ($198) Their pizzas are in rectangular shape, freshly baked from stone oven to make the awesome thin and crispy crust.

Surprisingly, it has both hot-smoked and cold-smoked salmon, together with the right portion of baby spinach, red onion, fried capers. The sour cream and dill dressing is a perfect match with the salmon. It is light and refreshing, the texture and flavour of the whole meal become more balanced, alongside with the red meats.

Located at the chic and stunning Tseung Kwan O south promenade, The Pizza Pig is a nice Italian eatery that serves a vast variety of dishes, ranging from light meals like salad and snacks to mains like pizza and pasta. Their dessert menu is also something you cannot miss out. It is a nice restaurant to chill with your friends while enjoying the semi-outdoor dining environment. We tried the following items this time:

🦑 Crispy calamari ($135) The lightly battered calamari is fried till golden brown - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The house spice and garlic mayo matches perfectly with the crunchy calamari.

🍝Pork sausage orecchiette ($168) The al dente orecchiette is served in a flavourful and rich chilli, tomato cream sauce, topped with caramelised and fried Italian pork and fennel sausage. Love the combination of ingredients.

🍕Signature piggie pizza (S) ($198) The small pizza comes with 8 small pieces and is good for sharing among the four of us. Their pizzas are served in rectangular shape, freshly baked from the stone oven to create such beautiful and thin crust. The signature piggie pizza has generous amount of pork knuckle, sausage, chorizo, cotta ham, bell pepper, red onions and mozzarella as topping. Flavours and texture are well balanced.

🧀White truffle spaghetti carbonara ($178) This pasta combo is as good as one can imagine. The sauce is incredibly rich, cheesy and creamy with an aromatic truffle aftertaste. Also loved the plentiful caramelised crispy bits of pancetta!

1️⃣𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐏𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐢𝐞 𝐇𝐊𝐃 𝟏𝟗𝟖🍕 👅🐖💗An oval shape of pizza that contained all form of pork meats, including the pork knuckle, the Italian sausage, the chorizo and the cotta ham. Topped with red onion and mozzarella cheese, they all blended perfectly to give a cheesy, melty and smooth texture.🧅🧀

2️⃣𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐬 𝐇𝐊𝐃 𝟏𝟖𝟖 🌊 🍏💛Immersed in a mixture of broth that contains apple cider and green moyo sauce, the Spanish mussels released some of their salty juices while creating an addictive flavours in the shell. Don’t forget to sop up all delicious broth and chorizo pieces on the crusty breads.💚😻💘

3️⃣𝐆𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐔𝐒𝐃𝐀 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐭 𝐌𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐊𝐃 𝟑𝟐𝟖 🥩🍟❤️Perfectly seasoned and grilled, it gave the best cut with a succulent and tender flavour. (Tho I wish I could see the marbling pattern on the meat) The French fries are ultra crispyyy!! While it was crispy on the outside, it still managed to retain a soft and musty texture inside.🔥🍴🥰

4️⃣𝐓𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐮 𝐇𝐊𝐃 𝟖𝟖 🍰 ☕️🥰💗It was certainly one of the best desserts in the restaurant because the coffee was soaked deeply in each creamy layer, giving an aroma of fruity yet bitter flavour that all coffee lovers will fascinate about. The whipped cream was spread evenly on each layer and dusted with cocoa on top. YUMM😘

5️⃣𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐇𝐊𝐃 𝟓𝟖 🍎💗 A fruity drinks that is irresistible to all sweet lovers because it satisfied my sweet tooth with passion fruit, apple juice, peach and strawberry puree.🍓🍑❤️‍🔥

6️⃣𝐕𝐨𝐝𝐤𝐚 𝐏𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡 𝐇𝐊𝐃 𝟔𝟖 🍹 Fruity and alcoholic. A great combination of vodka, orange juice, pineapple juice and fresh passion fruit that can be served at any occasion.🍊🧡🥤
