I hardly like any viet place in HK (got spoiled by Vancouver’s viet food🥺) it’s very difficult to find an authentic viet place in hk and this one is definitely RARE🔥 favourite! I live SO far from tai Wai but I go there whenever I have the chance to!

🫔 You can never find this DIY wrap from typical viet places. But it’s a very common and authentic dish in Vietnam! (I know Cus my friend and aunt is viet😛) grilled beef is wrapped in betel leaf. The leaf elevates the flavour of the meat with its slightly minty flavour. That combined with the earthiness of the beef is magical! The only downside to this dish is that it’s DIY! Prepare to get your hands dirty! But if you don’t mind getting messy and like having fun with your food then this dish is for you.

🍲 Bon bo hue: a must order dish for me as long as they have it. Same as the DIY wrap, not commonly found in viet restaurants in HK but a very common one in Vietnam. It has a pig hand and a spicy soup base. Xi xup’s Bon bo hue is the closest I’ve had to the authentic one. However, this one was a bit too salty and spicy for my liking.

🔥 火魔牛肉 stir fried beef with Lemongrass and shrimp crackers. When it came in flames I got caught off guard a little 😂 We didn’t know what to expect of it but it was surprisingly good. The beef with onions go on the cracker. The cracker was so crispy and delicious. The only downside is the excess amount of oil.

🥛Pandan milk- I always come back for it! It’s their recommended drink! At first I thought it would be too heavy and sweet. But it was actually quite light for a milk drink and...

The review below was written about a year ago. After a recent visit it appears that the ownership has been transferred, service was a little bit offputting indeed.

I would keep this review for a while and go again to see if it still lives up to the standard the previous owners had so diligently setup.

A hidden gem in Tai Wai, this hip Viet bistro is so intentionally unnoticeable from the outside yet once you open the door it is hip cozy and welcoming.

The menu is comprehensive and indeed was surprising to me, for that they offer a range of intriguing dish (check out the menu) that have already guaranteed my next visit.

All the dishes are meticulously prepared and presented, tastes authentic and sometimes quite bold. Ingredients are top notch. Welcoming and attentive service. High ceiling, the wall art, the annex "second floor", choice of colour and furniture all mixed up so well giving people a nice place to really chill and enjoy the selected utensils and beautifully garnished dishes - which is so lacking in Tai Wai and indeed, Hong Kong.

The drink menu is very well designed I am still wondering what the "herbal tea" is about lol. They serve very good, and different kind of, coffee.

A small Vietnamese place that shines. This restaurant is worth going to across districts.

The place itself has so much character. I love everything about the colour and texture, the mural, the Saigon map, furnitures (I LOVE ratten chairs) . All of them gives a young, refreshing, southeast Asian vibe. I also appreciate the sophistication in their choices of tableware. Love the music that day too.

The dishes are flavourful in general. I love how different flavours are on point and compliment each other well. The fish sauce caramel wings rice (plus the soy sauce! It’s a brilliant touch) and banh mi are exemplary examples.

The pho is good, but it’s definitely not the star in the menu. Probably because the other two dishes I’ve tried were so good.

You can tell that the chef/team behind this has put much effort in everything. Can’t wait to return and try other dishes. Hope they keep up...
