I don't want to be disrespectful to the HK people who dine here regularly.. but listen to me, this is a restaurant from hell, and I don't say this for political reason (one of the reasons why most HK people hated Maxim), I'm reviewing this place as a restaurant.
Pure disgusting meal. I ordered what supposed to be spicy minced meat sauce with Char Siu on the bed of rice. God, the sauce was the most awful thing I put into my mouth. First of all, it has no hint of spiciness. The sauce has a weird slippery texture and terrible flavor, weirdest of all is there were some crunchy apple-like thingy mixed with the sauce. I don't know what that ingredient is but I hated every second of my meal. Then the Char Siu and rice.. of course, it was a suffering experience as well. Somehow I found it manageable to eat them only if I mixed a slice of Char Siu with a little bit of rice together, because then it distracted me from noticing how badly each of the ingredients tasted like.
I had HKnese milk tea for drink. Before the meal I thought it tasted watery but still acceptable. After the meal I was thankful this was the only 'normal' food item I could have.
With great courage and my motto 'not to waste food if possible', I finished almost half of my meal. And boy, now it made sense to me why the local HK people would describe the food from Maxim as, 'Not for human'.
This chain HKnese cafe-restaurant has been opening for many years, and it is meant to be for the common people. But to be honest for the same price range there are other better options out there, I can only assume that they still have regular customers because of the convenience/ for...

Maxim and MX seats are not so comfortable to sit on compared to their competitors. Like a hard board to describ. Seat sometimes are tilted sideway. Often found seats fenced out of use before of water dripping from air con.. Part of this restaurant under renovation at this moment, air temperature and circulation is...

Problem is that their menu kept the, same for ages, should change that more regularly. Also, in this shop, only access is 3 stories of staircase, impossible for handicapped, & rough on elderly. Elevator...
