El Gringo — Restaurant in Cali

Don’t go there for brunch (they can’t even fry a proper egg) or mimosas. We went looking for brunch and thought this place’s menu looked good. I ordered eggs and hash browns. And the person I was with ordered the grilled cheese basket. They really use crappy ingredients even for the mimosas, which were flat. The grilled cheese had one slice of cheese, at most, and it just came with butter, which is stupid since that’s not a basket. My hash browns were alright if bland. The eggs it came with I had to send back because not only were they not over easy, the whites were still uncooked, and yet the yolks were hard (I don’t know how they did that) and when they re-made them they still couldn’t make them with soft yolks. You can tell a lot by how well a restaurant can fry eggs, or not...

I’ve been several times at El Gringo and I definitely love their burgers. Specially “La Gringa” burger that comes with Jack Daniels sauce and onion rings in the burger. Their bread is soft and fluffy but at the same time not too thick. I’ve also tried their Maple Bacon and Machonacho burger and they are also great. You can choose either fries, coleslaw or onion rings with your burger. My favourite sof drink is “ Chai Rojo” or Red Chai. I recommend it, is delicious.
