The Hotel Dann Cali should be a good choice for a place to stay in Cali for a few days. It is in a nice location in the El Peñon area. ||||I found an attractive room rate online, and there were multiple positive reviews.||||But my three-day stay there was mostly an unpleasant experience.||||The Dann Cali is in a tower connected by a walkway over a street to the Hotel Dann Carlton Cali. The Dann Carlton is presumably newer and includes the main checkin desks, the bar, and other functions. The Dann Cali feels very much like a poor cousin to the main component.||||Getting to your hotel room means taking two elevators and using your hotel key card to open two passage doors, to say nothing of using it in the elevators. The inconvenience and tediousness of these treks starts to mount after a day or two.||||There were a number of conventions and meetings, which meant the elevators were frequently overwhelmed, and long waits were the outcomes. Taking the stairs made good sense in these circumstance, and the benefit of the exercise is not to be overlooked.||||The hotel advertises a pool and hot tub, but, bizarrely, the pool is surrounded by the hotel restaurant. Anyone who wanted to swim would be in the middle of diners having a meal. In the three and a half days I was there I did not see a single person using the pool or hot tub. Both my partner and myself really wanted to use the pool because of the hot Cali weather but just felt it would be too weird because of the layout. This was a major shortcoming for us||||A simple request to get a corkscrew to open a few bottles of wine turned into a completely ridiculous and protracted process. The concept of customer service and helping guests was in short supply.||||The room wireless was grossly inadequate. It would repeatedly kick us off devices, making it necessary to sign back in multiple times while were attempting to use them. It frequently functioned poorly or not at all. This is a real problem for people whose devices do not have cellular capacity. The wireless was generally much stronger in the lobby. In the current era good quality wireless service is a baseline expectation in hotels.||||When the room wireless failed to function when checking in for an airline flight, I turned to the business center on the main floor. Two of the three computers appeared not to function. The third did - very very slowly - but I had to go to the front desk to obtain paper.||||Hot water was frequently in short supply in the shower.||||We made the mistake of eating a late lunch in the hotel restaurant one day. The service was abysmally slow. Our server actually disappeared about halfway through the meal and was never seen again. Overall the food was at best average.||||The room itself was quite nice, and the bed was comfortable. So at a very minimal level, the basic accommodation function of renting a room was acceptable.||||So while the Hotel Dann Cali might be attractive because of price and location, I strongly suggest looking around at your other choices.||||I will not be returning. ||||And I will not recommend the Hotel Dann...
Read moreI never write reviews, but I would not recommend this hotel, and it's not because of the amenities; it's due to the unprofessional management staff, particularly Francisco Lozano, the general manager. I came to Cali for dental work, and the clinic that performed the procedure also paid for my hotel stay. So, on my last night at the hotel, I got to my hotel room, and my key was turned off. I went to the front desk and as I was explaining this to the front desk attendant, out of nowhere, Francisco Lozano came and interrupted, saying, "You must pay now, or else you won't get your things out of the room." He was uncontrollably upset, which was very confusing since the front desk attendant and I were having a laid-back conversation about the reservation. He was so upset that when I told him I had a message from the dental clinic confirming my reservation was covered, he looked at me and said, "This is how this is going to go; they need to email me your name and reservation information." This is the email he gave me (Coordinatnocturn@hotelsdanncali.com.co). At this point, I said, "I apologize; this is just a miscommunication." I said this in the hopes that he would see that it was an honest miscommunication between the hotel and the staff at the dental clinic, and maybe we could resolve the issue, and he would calm down. This did not work; he was still fuming. Fast forward an hour, the dental office sent the email that he demanded, and the front desk attendant at the hotel activated my room key. But I knew this wouldn't be over because Francisco was hell-bent on me not getting into the room. So, after I got into my hotel room, 5 minutes later, my hotel room phone rang, and I knew it was him. This guy is a complete maniac; he told me, "You have to pay; our hotel rooms are full tonight, and you must pay. I am sending someone up to your room for payment." I paid the fee and deadbolted my room door from the inside because this guy has keys to all the rooms. And to make this experience even worst, they locked me in my room so the next morning I couldn’t exit. They did this overnight because I order takeout before bed. The bellmen who let me out of my room in the morning said maybe I rubbed the key against something and it deactivated somehow. This was the worst hotel experience I have ever...
Read moreMe and a couple friends rented out the presidential suite for 4nights. The total for our stay was 4,000,000.00. We were super excited until the first day upon setting up the jacuzzi the unit would not turn on or activate the jets.
After requesting service and having their engineers take a look at the unit they stated that the water needs to be up to a certain level before they activated. We asked them to fill the unit so upon return it can be used.
After returning 4 hrs later we found the unit flooded the entire master suite bringing water into the hallway and the common space. We again requested service they came up and found a small hole in the unit and used silicon to fill it. They then falsely claimed the leak caused the electronics to not work and we would not be able to use the unit.
I asked if it could be repaired or how would they accommodate this, the response was we can use the unit in the pool area until their master engineer comes in on Monday( that same night I found that unit was also out of order) Monday came and no one was available or able to fix the unit.
We also found the 2nd full shower had issues with the head, the unit had more than half of the jets clogged.
Upon check out I asked if something can be done with a small discount on the total price of our stay or if anything could be done about it. I explained to them that there was not one jacuzzi in the hotel we could use.
The answer was simply no. Soon after this before stepping out into our taxis calls me back to pay for a beer we drank from the mini bar costing 11,000.
I couldn't believe this and it's pretty ridiculous.
If anyone else rents this or any room please make sure you have everything fully functional on day one. DO NOT PAY ALL NIGHTS UP FRONT!!! You walk have...
