I really do not want to write a negative review, I think this may be the first public one I have ever written, generally I contact the management directly. However, last night was so egregious that I feel I have little choice. Two nights ago I went to Angelina's to get a pizza to go and a beer while I waited, the pizza was decent not great but decent, but the staff was amazing and convinced me to go bring the family back the next night for my 40th birthday. We arrived and were seated promptly which was good and given our choice of tables. We were brought water and menus, shortly later our drinks, and though the restaurant was not busy, perhaps 35% capacity we didn't think much of the fact that it took awhile to have someone take our order. When someone finally did he apologized profusely that no one had come by, we responded 'it is okay we are trying to enjoy a night out and are not in a hurry.' They brought us bread and that was where things went downhill. We did not see our waiter again thereafter, after 25 minutes or so, and our beers long since empty, I went to the bar to order ourselves more drinks. Only then did the waiter take notice that we had been forgotten about, again apologizing, and our food arrived shortly after. Problem was we had ordered the meatball appetizer, which we never received, okay our meals are big enough we probably didn't need it, but after waiting for my daughter's meal for 5 minutes I had to go find the waiter again. He asked if everything was okay to which I responded 'we didn't get our appetizer and my daughter's meal is nowhere to be found.' Then the blame game started, this waiter blamed the bar tender Pablo(who I had sat with one on one the previous night) for the missing meatballs. The shorter waiter, our second waiter, then arrived and said 'oh the salad is right over there,' the (taller waiter) simply forgot to bring it over. Both the short and the tall waiters then came over to the table with the salad, and asked if everything was now alright, 'sure, we didn't receive our order correctly, I had to go retrieve our drinks myself, and then my daughter's meal, but yes it is fine, just let me eat.' We did not see either of them again until we finally went to retrieve them to get a box for the food to leave, I was not able to sit there any longer knowing I would be spending over $100 US Dollars on a meal and drinks that we practically served ourselves. Finally the taller waiter, who blamed the short waiter for the service issues, went to box up the food, the shorter waiter came by, blaming the taller waiter and the Pablo for the issues. I do not care who's fault it is, I simply want to leave, I fed the entirety (minus two bites) of my $30 ribeye to a street dog on the way home. I do not ever want anything for free, but the fact that all bills have a 10% service charge for the staff, meant not only did I have to tip them for service that I provided (can I keep the 10%?). Only positives from the night, my wife's snapper was quite good, there was a lizard living in the light above us that entertained my daughter and myself for the 90 minutes we were there, and a street dog got the best meal of his life. Your restaurant was not busy, there is no way that we should have had to find our own service and our own drinks, and most of all; take some ownership! A simple 'we messed up,' would have been fine, but it was always everyone else's fault. I had been looking forward to this meal and my 40th and left without eating and disgusted by the 'service' that was never provided. Pathetic work folks,...
Read moreThis place came recommended to us by others in the area, but believe me when I say I'd rather eat anywhere else.
Service: We had a group of 3 and sat down 2 hours before closing. Over 1 hour and 15 minutes passed before our server came back and told us they were just now putting in our order. We barely got our food while they were closing up. No one ever came by to refill our water or ask if we wanted any drinks. 0/10
Atmosphere: I get that some people may come here for live music, but it completely ruined the vibe for our group. We had to yell over each other just to talk and even then the speakers were drowning us out. There were a lot of very drunk 55+ year olds, so if that's the crowd you want then this is your spot. 1/10
Food: This was the worst of all. After waiting 90 minutes for our food, I get my pizza delivered to the table. It didn't look very appetizing but I was starving by this point and was ready to eat. I am not exaggerating when I say this was the worst pizza I have ever eaten. Been to around 20 counties and have probably eating 200+ pizzas and this was the worst (which is almost impressive). The dough was completely undercooked (after 90 minutes lol), the sauce was tasteless, and the cheese was downright gross. To top it off, whenever I picked up a slice, all the toppings slid right off onto the pan. -10/10
I would recommend you to go literally anywhere else besides this restaurant.
For good steaks, go next door, for better pizza (or should I say edible pizza), go to the place below the restaurant, for better service or atmosphere, everywhere we went to in Playa...
Read moreJuly 2025 updating my review because we ate here again during our recent visit to the area: we have been to Angelina’s before during a previous trip to the area - my husband had a drink here 3 years ago that he was looking forward to, unfortunately it wasn’t on the menu but he asked our waitress about it and she asked other staff members - they did some digging and found the recipe for the drink, they were missing one liquor for it but substituted it with something else and it was on point. We appreciated how out of their way they went to make the drink he requested.
This is a great place to eat! Each night we walked by this place it was lively and we knew we had to try it. It was the most expensive meal for us since being here, but it was well worth it and we hadn’t eaten all day so we ordered an appetizer, salad, two entrees and drinks. The staff were all so pleasant from the moment you arrive until you leave. Food was delicious, everything is a la carte, drinks were great the atmosphere was relaxing with a nice ambiance. Picture of drinks show Flamingo View on the left and Rock Lobster on the right. The staff even wiped down the table after taking dishes away if they noticed food that missed the plate (this is not something I typically see back home). Very attentive, we had Rodney as our waiter and he even asked how we liked our drinks, strong or sweet. I like mine on the sweeter side so he took my drink back and had it fixed. We highly recommend Angelina’s, we’ll definitely...
