Agua | Salada — Restaurant in Tamarindo

Food was good, ordered a burger and a moscow mule for myself. The negative experience came from the cashier and waiters who treated us like idiots, likely for being 4 girls dining alone. The menu was in dollars, but when the check came, they were charging us in colones (which is more expensive) so we asked that they charge in the original currency of the menu, however they didn’t grab the prices from the menu, they took took the colones total and converted once more, making the dollars more expensive. In the end they charged $20 over our check total. We noticed but we wanted to leave and didn’t want to make a scene, so we let it go and payed the check. Then we decided to go back since we found out it’s not the first time they take advantage of customers. When we did, they lied to our faces and said they had changed the prices from the menu, but they weren’t printed on the actual menu’s yet. They kept trying to make excuses and refused to give our money back. It may seem like an insignificant $20, but these pile up, especially if they take advantage of all their customers the same way. Even though the food was good, this treatment was unacceptable and we refuse to go back. After we published our review on a local community facebook group, the restaurant owner’s “friend” manipulated us to take it down. But we are in every right to share our experience. Great food, great vibe, TERRIBLE customer service - We used to be regular customers (1-2 times a week), but since our last visit a few days ago we have decided to NEVER go back to this restaurant.

The bald server who handles the beach tables is outright obnoxious, egotistical and has no sense of 'authentic' customer service.

We have always had delays in water, rudeness when we remind him for water refills, rudeness when we ask for a specific table (he did not give us a table saying its reserved, and when the people didnt show up 30-45 minutes later he still refused to seat us there!). It stayed empty the entire 1.5 - 2 hours we were there! Severe delays in getting us the bill.

We have had MANY issues with this particular server in our 20 or so visits to Agua Salida, and even shared this feedback with Kenneth, our taxi driver who is friends with the owner; Kenneth is the one who highly recommended this place to us.

Note for the owner - such an amazing place needs be friendly and uplifting staff versus bossy, egoistic, 'boy's club' attitude. The other servers are fairly decent - its only this one server that we have issues with. We love the food here, love the vibe but sadly won't be back unless this guy is replaced. He is fully aware of how many times he has been...

AMAZING!! We had our son and daughter-in-laws' rehearsal dinner in January and it was perfection! This was Agua Salada's first event and from first meeting and working with Diego and Diana, we knew this was the place for our celebration. The setting, the food and the incredible staff made our night one to remember. We live in Atlanta and are foodies. To say that the food was above and beyond our expectations is an understatement. I so hoped the photographer had gotten a photo of the buffet because it was not only delicious, but beautiful!! Our guest are still talking about it. We wanted a local vibe and did an A Lo Tico Buffet. I have to share the menu....
