My wife and I were set on doing a destination wedding, and thought Costa Rica would be the perfect place. We had spent months trying to make it work with our budget, accommodations and find a perfect venue. We had almost given up, when we found Pangas. We sent through an initial inquiry and Pangas got back to us right away with a very organized wedding package including food and beverage options, clear details of the pricing based on the size of wedding and payment details. Pangas had everything we were looking for and is an absolutely breathtaking venue. They are located right on the beach in Tamarindo with large tropical trees and greenery. We were impressed and excited to see that they included live edge tables, chairs and string lighting which was all exactly our style. We only had to bring some small decorating to add, and they were more than happy to set this up for us for a small fee. Not only was the venue perfect for what we were looking for, but the customer service was just as amazing. Karina at Pangas was incredible in helping us with every detail of our event. We went back and forth with her for months and she was always upbeat, happy to help and patient with us. We would not have been able to pull it all off without her. The day before and day of the event, Elizabeth the owner was amazing at helping us figure out all the fine details and giving us tips based on her years of experience in the industry. She made sure everything went perfectly. The rest of the staff was also incredible and accommodating to all of our guests, and the food was the best we had through our whole two week trip in Costa Rica. Thank you so much to Karina, Elizabeth and all the staff, we really appreciate all of your help in making our wedding so special. We had nothing but great comments from all of our guests on the staff and venue. We plan to go back someday and it sounded like many of our guests were thinking the same! Pura Vida!! Carman & Ryan

A very nice place with a good number of flaws, as far as food and service is concerned. The appetizers we got, the lomito carpaccio and the shrimp cocktail, were tasty and satisfying. Portions were generous, although I admit that I was a bit surprised at paying $30 for a 6-shrimp cocktail. The shrimp was good. We ordered the crispy grilled salmon and the surf and turf (lomito and lobster). The salmon we got was full of pin bones. My wife could not finish her salmon. To their credit, they removed it from our bill. The surf and turf was a mixed bag. The lobster was well seasoned but rubbery and overcooked. The lomito was delicious, though the meat you actually cook yourself on a hot rock they provide. A bit gimmicky but it allowed me to enjoy the meat. We tried to get the chocolate cake, as we’ve heard great things, but they had ran out. Lastly, while the servers were themselves quite polite and friendly, they were largely inattentive and it took a long while to get any attention to the issues we had with our food. Even when we wanted to get the dessert menu, it took 15 minutes between asking for it and getting it verbally listed to us. That’s not too great. Overall, a nice restaurant with flaws. Pricey, and maybe worth it when they are at the top of their game.

Dined here in November 2022: this place has a potential for 100 stars, however a number of minor things piled up over the course of our dinner: 1. The prawn cocktail was very poor in sauce so we asked for more... and we're charged for it. It really was a tiny amount, it needed more sauce. 2. My partner ordered a black coffee, which arrived without milk on the side, so she asked for some and the waiter made a point "well, you asked for black". We didn't appreciate his attitude. 3. The vibe is off: there is no background music, but what spoiled the atmosphere was the frantic, rushed behaviour of the waiting staff, who ran stressfully back and forth. The interactions were rushed and it made us feel stressed too. We started to sense that "the fish rots from the head down" and weren't wrong. We decided to leave and went to pay at the till... and Mrs Trunchball, the lady manager, didn't ask us about our experience, she didn't even make eye contact. Instead, she handed the bill to another waiter giving him a look, like saying: "why didn't you sort them out at the table." All in all, very good food but we felt like a number and the management's attitude is one of extreme entitlement. I would not go back.

WORST FOOD IN CR OUR ENTIRE 2 WEEK TRIP. was so excited to try this place. absolutely worst food & experience in costa rica. we have been traveling cr for 2 weeks and this was our second last night thank GOD it wasn’t our last i would have been so upset. i do not understand all of these positive reviews coco loco was a million times better than this place & half the price. first of all, the dirt ground is a joke. as soon as i got out of the car my feet were covered in this gross dry dirt. thought it would only be where we parked but nope. the entire restaurant floor is this crap. this is supposed to be an upscale dining experience i wore a nice outfit & i’m covered in dirt. when we arrived we were offered 3 tables a distance from the beach, which was fine we didn’t have a reservation. until another couple without one after we were already sitting was offered a table way closer? like ? the atmosphere is not as nice as you’d think. there’s ugly grass that’s wide & ruins the view of the beach & you have to walk all the way to the beach to get it out of the photo. the 2 biggest issues were the several screaming children & various different large tables & the awful food. i’m not sure why small children cover this restaurant when it’s supposed to be fine dining i can’t imagine they even like anything on the menu but our entire meal that was supposed to be romantic was filled with kids all around us screaming & crying the entire time. they broke glasses & were causing a huge disturbance at several different tables. this restaurant should absolutely be ages 12 and above. the food is awful!!!!! the seafood platter is a joke. the smallest ity bity pieces of seafood i’ve ever seen in my life. the shrimp and clams were smaller than a literal dime i am not exaggerating when i say that. the mussles were closed shut i don’t know why that was even served. & not only was it all so small but there was a very small amount of it on there. skinniest crappiest calamari ive ever seen. the waiter told us that it is pre mixed so it obviously is not fresh. we didnt wanna complain so we ate it and moved on. big mistake, the entrees were even worse. i got lamb and immediately sent it back because it could not cut AT ALL. it was the toughest meat i’ve ever had and i eat lamb all the time at home with 0 issue. they were thin too. also forgot to mention we had to ask for steak knives which is insane all we had were butter knives, but even their steak knives couldn’t cut it and forget about trying to chew it. the ribeye was tough as well we’ve had multiple in cr never had an issue even at casual places. was gonna get chocolate cake but we could not wait to leave with the nonstop crying children everywhere we didn’t even bother with dessert. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY...

On Dec. 8, 2023 we ate at this restaurant. The bill was $276 US dollars. On the bill we marked an X on the tip line because we found out that the tip was included in the bill. They did not provide a copy of the bill to us (contrary to common practice in US). We charged the bill on our VISA. Later our VISA showed an amount of $532.03 (almost the double). We disputed this transaction with our Bank Of America, they did not help us at all (very poor service: we had to go thru multiple time consuming calls, around and around) because we did not have a copy of the bill.

Lesson learned: always ask for a copy of the bill to avoid fraud practice in a foreign country.

Follow up: after receiving the statement from Bank of America VISA, I disputed the charge to Ms. S., she started the claim on Dec. 29, 2023, I told her that I do not have a copy of Pandas bill. I received a letter from VISA on Jan. 17, 2024 telling me to provide more info which I do not have but VISA stated that they still continue the investigation. Then on Jan. 31, 2024, they completed their research and denied my claim. On Feb. 1, 2024, I called the # that they provided to follow up the dispute, I explained to Ms. C. who told me that she handles only new claim and gave me another # to call for old claim. That agent, Mr. C., I explained after a long conversation, again denied help and gave me a # to call to report fraud. I called that # and Ms. T. told me that she works in the bank fraud department and not in the credit card department and I have to call to the credit card claim fraud department which is I have to restart again from the beginning, back to square one. After a long waiting time on hold, I gave up. Remember that each time to talk to an agent I have to wait for 15 to 18 minutes each which means that I spent the whole morning. Briefly, these commercial entities are all deceptive, not consumer friendly at all as they...
