Elina is such, such a nice lady. She treats you like family when you eat at her place. She’s like the kind grandmother that has to keep feeding you until you are stuffed. My cousin and I are her probably 4-5 times during our stay in Tamarindo. The food is good, and inexpensive and she also has some cool special going on everyday. My cousin and I each got a Casado plate with fish, rice, beans, and salad and two bottles of water for a total bill of 8800. She fires up a wood stove and cooks over it everyday. One time she cooked us steak and baked potato packs over the flame on it. It’s a very location with nice artwork painted on the walls. Read moreWe love trying local cuisine. We had this restaurant on our list and weren’t disappointed at all. The location is in an alley, don’t be put off by the location. We felt safe and welcomed upon entering restaurant. It is such a local place (Soda) with friendly personnel and an amazing chef! Yes let’s call her a chef because she cooks like it and the flavors of every meal show!
We had the ceviche and a fried fish. My only regret is that we got there with very limited time before starting a tour. The personnel did everything to get our orders out so quick and I am so grateful for their patience in working with us and to get our food to go. Every bite...
Read moreThis is my first time in Costa Rica and I've tried a few different places on the strip in Tamarindo. I've gotta say the tourist traps are expensive and underwhelming in food quality. Sazon Criollo is different. The lady who runs the place is genuinely nice and she really cares about the food. The menu is small and I really appreciate that. They keep it small because whats on the menu is awesome! The arroz-maiz soup is more akin to a stew and it is absolutely delicious. The beef casado is flavorful and tender. I loved that they had fresh passion fruit juice too. Seriously if you're in Tamarindo, CR...give this place a visit. I promise you won't be disappointed in the food. Even better, get it to-go and eat...
