Fidel Gastro — Restaurant in City of Zagreb

It was one of my favorite restaurants in Zagreb. But my last (and I mean it: last) visit was just terrible.

Restaurant was almost empty, but still, we waited 60 minutes for appetizer and another 40 minutes on top of hour for our main dish. Staff is friendly, but too relaxed: they don’t put much care and attention as this price tag implies.

Frankly, I was so disappointed and sad about this experience that I really lost any belief and desire to give chance and ever visit Fidel Gastro again.

Because, heck with that waiting time… however, that’s not the issue. When great food is at stake, you can afford to spare hour or two.

But there is a catch… what about food? Guys, what happened to its quality? First of all, and this is the most frustrating, me and my companion sh*ting three days at row after eating here. The only food we ate together was Fidel Gastro’s. Second, taste of food is far from what you managed to provide earlier. And DEFINITELY doesn’t worth even close to 100€ paycheck for 2 guys for food only.

So, my friends, think three times before visiting Fidel Gastro. They WERE great, that’s true. I genuinely loved them. But such experience I wouldn’t wish to my enemy. Writing this feedback sitting on my 🚽 btw:) Thank you FG, it was great nice knowing you,...

They have mixed up our reservation (wrong date) so it was pure luck that we managed to get a table. Then we waited for a while for them to offer us drinks and even more to get the menu. One of our friends wanted beefsteak tartar but they didn't have any. The problem is that this wasn't communicated to us so our friend didn't get any food that evening. Furthermore, the portions are really small and one would expect tastier food for prices they are charging. To add insult to injury, the service was terrible. We felt like we had to put extra effort to catch a waiter and order something. At the end, there were no desserts that are on the menu, they only had cheesecake and chocolate cake, and these two were presented poorly.

Lousy service, small portions, high prices, mediocre food... All in all,...

I liked everything about this restaurant- cosy atmosphere, nice service, smooth background music, but what I liked the most is the plate I ordered- salmon with quinoa crust, horseradish foam and the veggies. Salmon was crispy from the outside and soft from the inside, the perfect combination. If you are opting for healthy, delicious and fullfilling meal I strongly recommend this one :) Although you can’t go wrong with other meals they have in offer as my friends were eating different meals (katsu chicken, beefsteak, fettucine with salmon) and they were also very satisfied with their choices. For appetizer I do recommend taking beef tartar and for sweet tooth I recommend cannoli filled with ricotta and pistachios. Looking forward to going back to this restaurant, next time when the live...
