Today the Museum has at its disposal holdings containing about one hundred thousand items of the fine and applied arts, drawn from the period from the 14thto the 21st century, organised into a number of collections: furniture, glass, metal, ceramics, sculpture, painting, graphic art, clocks and watches, graphic and product design, architecture, photography (one of the oldest such collections in the world) and photographic equipment, fabric and fashion, musical instruments, painted leather, ivory, printing and bookbinding. Since some of these collections number several thousand or indeed several tens of thousands of objects, it would be quite reasonable to say that they in fact comprise individual museums within the Museum, the more so that some of the collections are unique in Croatia. Read moreWhen I visited this museum one foggy afternoon in late January 2018, I must have been the only visitor. Is that a sign? A sign that this museum is not the most interesting place in Zagreb? However, I liked the part with Jelko Yuresha's ballet exhibits (photographs, bills, tutus, ballet shoes, etc.) and I was deeply impressed by Ceija Stojka's "Requiem for Auschwitz" paintings. But beyond that the museum is nothing special. A guide followed me wherever I went as if to prevent me from stealing a long case clock or a Biedermeier sofa. Luckily for me this museum is not the biggest one in Zagreb, so I made it one hour and a half. On the lowest floor, museum prepare temporary exhibitions . In March and April (2018) it is Light in Art - work of Italian creators -colection of lamps.
