We visited this restaurant Tuesday night but was turned away due to the refurbishment being done on the kitchen. It would have been nice to update Google Maps with this information.
Friday night, we visited again. Parking is available. The place was quiet. It was around 9 pm.
We ordered bruschetta and the spring rolls for starters. The spring rolls were nice despite the odd presentation, i.e., being on a badly torn piece of parchment paper.
The bruschetta was extremely salty. The brown paste was scraped off to make it edible. It wasn't a typical bruschetta, and the combination didn't work well in our opinion. The bread wasn't as crusty as accustomed to. This bread was more like every day, lightly toasted slice bread, which got soggy when the thick brown paste was added to it.
For the main, we ordered the Hungarian pizza, beef medallions, and cabbage salad.
This restaurant has 4.5☆ ratings. The reviews and pictures look amazing, so it was incredibly disappointing when we tasted our meals.
My medallions looked unappetising on the plate, very beige. The cabbage salad was simply shredded cabbage in a bowl. The beef medallions were inedible as they were bland and chewy. The sauce tasted like bisto gravy, which I dislike. The bread was dry, and no butter was provided. All I could have stomach was the chips.
The pizza was also too salty to eat. That was also left.
When the waiter asked if we would like it to go, my friend said yes because she felt bad leaving food behind. It was put in the bin when we got back to our apartment.
The waiter enquired about the meal since most of it was still on the plate when we asked for the bill, and above was explained to him. He was disappointed as we were. However, I genuinely could not eat anything but the chips.
I don't know if it was the time of night, but our meals were not up to standard at all.
We were still willing to pay the full bill since ingredients were used, time taken to prepare and serve. However, the waiter did not add the medallions to the bill.
I am disappointed in this dining experience. My reviews are based on my personal opinions and experiences. This isn't personal, just honest feedback on...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant several times during our holiday break in Croatia as it was close to our accommodation.
I have corrected its position on google maps as its original shown position close to the bay below the Astereas hotel was not correct.
The restaurant is actually on the main D8 coast road just uphill from the main area.
If you are at the top of the entrance road to the Astereas hotel then walk along the road toward Dubrovnik on your left and the restaurant is on the other side of the road just past the bus lay by and parking area on the opposite side of the road.
This is THE no1 restaurant in the area !
The food that is served is of very high quality and indeed quantity. The staff are very pleasant also. And the prices are competitive.
It is great for single, couples and especially hungry families.
If you are staying downhill in the main tourist area, it is well worth the effort to walk up the hill one evening and you will not be...
