La Bodeguita Del Medio (Varadero) — Restaurant in Cárdenas

They padded the bill and overcharged me!

This used to be my favourite restaurant in Varadero, and sadly, it is not the restaurant it once was.

I was very disappointed to see that on the bill, each item was marked 1CUC higher than on the menu - I double checked the menu on the way out.

Had we not spent more than 1 hour waiting for a bottle of beer and appetizer, I would have pointed it out to the manager, but being quite frustrated and insulted, I simply paid and left.

It is totally unacceptable to overcharge in this manner, and very disappointing to see a restaurant I once held in very high regard has resorted to ripping people off, padding the bill like...

We ate here for lunch and dinner every night while in Varadero. Great staff, all wearing classic Cuban Guayabera shirts, huge portion sizes, and delicious ropa vieja and lobster. The mojitos are great, and cold with plenty of ice. Live music at lunch and dinner was a plus. I recommend that you sit on the east side to eat outdoors, for a slightly better breeze. You have to take a picture of the menu on the wall when you walk inside and order from the menu at the table with the waiting staff serving you. Can't beat the prices either, two lobster tails, an appetizer and several cocktails...

After 10 days in cuba in different cities : -the worst cocktails (we took 3 cocktails mojito, caipirina, cachanchara and first time we dont even drink one of them= all were awful - but also the cheapest 250pesos !!!! Insane ! impossible to do something good at this price,unfortunately. the tiniest lobster after maybe 30 lobsters in 10days, and overcooked -pork was ok but just ok Maybe it was not the right evening but the experience after behing adviced by several people was very disappointing On thing was incredible: the singer (woman) who was present that evening!!!
