I recently had the opportunity to dine at Windmills Restaurant in Gazimagusa, TRNC, and unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. From taste to price, the overall dining experience fell short of expectations.
Let's start with the food taste. Despite the restaurant's picturesque setting and cozy ambiance, the flavor of the dishes was surprisingly bland and lacked the promised gastronomic excitement. The menu, boasting a variety of options, failed to deliver on the palate. The flavors seemed uninspired, leaving me questioning the chef's culinary prowess.
Adding to the disappointment was the price point. The cost of the dishes did not align with the quality or taste. The menu suggested a high-end dining experience, but the reality fell flat. The portions were modest, and the prices were inflated, making it difficult to justify the expense for the underwhelming taste experience.
Service was another aspect that contributed to the overall letdown. The staff seemed disengaged and inattentive, further diminishing the overall dining atmosphere. Requests for recommendations or modifications to the dishes were met with indifference, leaving me feeling like just another patron rather than a valued customer.
In conclusion, Windmills Restaurant in Gazimagusa failed to live up to its culinary promises. The lackluster taste, coupled with the inflated prices and indifferent service, makes it hard to recommend this establishment for those seeking a satisfying and enjoyable dining experience. I hope the restaurant takes constructive feedback into account to improve its offerings and regain the trust of...
Read moreWe had breakfast included here as part of our stay at the Windmills Apartments. We stayed for 9 nights and had paid for breakfast each morning, but we ended up eating breakfast here only 2 or 3 times. The main reason was that we experienced stomach problems after their breakfast (something that never happened at other restaurants during our trip).
The breakfast menu is very limited (English breakfast, continental breakfast, omelette, or yogurt with cereals, and you can’t mix or add items). For example, if you ask for yogurt alongside your English breakfast, they will simply say “no,” without even offering the option to pay for it.
We also had lunch here twice. The first time was okay, nothing special but acceptable. The second time, however, was disappointing. We ordered burgers and received something that neither looked nor tasted like a burger. When we politely mentioned this to the staff, they became defensive and argued that we “do not know what burgers are” and that theirs were “the best in town.” (For comparison, we had fantastic burgers just across the street—those looked and tasted exactly as a burger should.)
Service overall was not great. Most of the staff do not speak English well, so we had to repeat our orders more than once. What we found especially concerning was that children were working there, including serving alcohol. Even if it’s a family-run business, this didn’t feel...
Read moreWe were the guests of the hotel. Therefore, we had breakfast included, which we used for all of 2 out of 9 days. Reason is both times my wife, 2 friends and I all felt incredibly sick in the stomach after eating. I am not a picky eater tho, and could digest a horseshoe. This did not happen in other 7 days we had breakfast elsewhere. We had the same English Breakfast combo everywhere.
International staff is pleasant, even if English level is 2/10. Cyprus native staff is very unpleasant and has many problems, and let me explain.
Day 2: We order 100% Angus Beef burgers for lunch. Not only was it not 100% beef, it was not near 1% Meat. When confronted the staff politely to ask what is the meaning of this, we got a very angry comment how we dont know what meat is, that we should not shout (even tho I was calm), and they were searching for a conflict. Like a gentleman, I left, and the bearded slicked hair waiter is lucky to still have his head. I dont take threats especially when they are lies, but we were in a vacation so I let it slide. After that, we never visited the pub again.
Also, child labour is present. Under 12 years old kid is working in the mornings (Aug 2025).
Just cross the street to Knights Pub. Food is 9/10 and hospitality 11/10 for...
