Booked our table in advance and requested an outside table which was confirmed by the restaurant. We arrived and were sat outside and ordered our drinks. Before our drinks arrived we were told that the table had been double booked and we had to sit inside. Why the restaurant did not sit the other party inside as they had not arrived yet is unclear. We obliged as we all do in these situations and sat inside where a large group booking was set up for 20 plus people.
The party arrived and completely ruined our night as they were all shouting down the table at each other. I’m not a party pooper and a moaner but the noise volume was unbearable. Instead of having a relaxing family meal we rushed our food to get out. We were the only people sat inside and now we know why!!!!
It’s a shame the restaurant did what they did as we will not be revisiting. We normally come 6-8 time in a year but as we felt we were treated badly and our meal and evening out ruined we will not be returning. I do not understand why we were moved and the other group allowed to use the table we were sat at. It was disappointing behaviour by...
Read moreRecommended by a few people so we took the advice and went for a evening meal (08/09/17). Grabbed the last table outside and "the waiter is the menu". Known locally as the tavern without the menu. However, because of this we both felt rushed to order, so we had to send him away to think over what was on offer. Persuaded to have the village salad starter and it was somewhat disappointing, too acidic and limited feta cheese. The kebab was just the meat, no pita or salad and it was a tad on the dry side. The waitress expected us to eat out main on the same plates as the starter and we had to ask for fresh plates. Service was a tad on the slow side. The traditional coffee at the end was not traditional, as it was not served with cold iced water. The food quality was at the best okay, will not be returning. On a positive, the portions were very healthy and we found for €40 this was value for money, but we also reflected that you "get what you pay for". If you're looking for what I can only describe as cheap and cheerful...this is you place. Nice friendly staff, okay food but it's...
Read moreI've been visiting Peyia for 5 years with my husband but this trip I am travelling solo. This evening I decided to try the Peyia Tavern and have left heartbroken! The owner of the tavern was extremely unfriendly towards me and sat me on a table away from other guests and could not wait to get rid of me. I was left to feel very uncomfortable and excluded from the rest of the guests and after my food and 2 small glasses of wine the owner came along and told me I had to leave because the table was reserved. I felt humiliated and quite frankly hurt by this attitude. Surely a lone traveller should be made to feel welcome. It's actually quite a challenge to holiday alone and I expected better treatment than this. Needless to say I won't be returning to...
