The Old Cinema — Restaurant in Peyia

We were in Cyprus for a week and overall it was great. We rented a villa just up the street from this place and every time we drove by we discussed that we should definitely come here too. Which we did the night before we left. The view is quite curious, we sat inside by the window, as the tables were on the street were extremely uncomfortable, stood at an angle, there was little space and chairs were sat in the center to such a state that it seemed to sit over a hole )). Inside everything was better in terms of feeling. The waiter agreed to remove the table inside for us and we moved there. That's where the pluses ended. The first negative impression was the waiting time. We waited for our order for about 40 minutes and even thought that the order was simply forgotten, but when we were about to pay for the drinks and leave, the food was still brought to us. And it was the most unpalatable food we have tasted in Cyprus. Few people manage to ruin the Greek salad, but the chef of this place managed to do it. Tuna salad turned out to be a salad with canned tuna (and this is in Cyprus!) "Lamb" was basically fried mutton fat with some pieces of meat, and the quail that my wife ordered was sour (maybe not fresh, but I can't say.) Even our son, who always enjoys eating French fries, decided not to continue after trying it here). In the end, we practically did not touch the food, wasted an evening at this place, paid and left. The service sucks! Aggressive staff ( one of the two people) was literally throwing the plates on the tables, after one hour and twenty minutes they didn't even serve us at least water, the food never arrived so we left after waiting for soooo long ,with our friends and infant to seek for other place to eat. When the people at the table in front of us left , the waitress came over to that table TOOK THE LEFTOVER MEAT FROM THE TABLE AND HEADED TO THE KITCHEN. I am sure you can all imagine what they did with the LEFTOVERS since the didn't clean the rest of that table for another half an hour. So if you want to be super late to be served and eat other people's LEFTOVERS this is the place to choose for your lunch or...

Avoid at all costs, tourist trap at its finest. We waited an hour and a half for our food, only to be served what I can only describe as dry, revolting chicken kebab, truly inedible. The owner managed to deliver some of the worst service I've experienced, with an attitude that made it feel like we were personally inconveniencing him just by being there.

To top off the disaster, our bill came with a mysterious €45 charge labeled “extras.” When we questioned it, we were told it was “a mistake.” Right. Just a casual €45 mistake.

Unpleasant atmosphere, awful food, and a staff that makes you feel utterly unwelcome. This place is the definition of a tourist trap. Do yourself a favor, go literally...
