I went with friends in early October, so I realise this is getting towards the end of the season and judging by the previous reviews, our experience does not appear to be typical.
This restaurant had been recommended by friends that live in the area, as one of the best in Polis. So we gave it a try early one Saturday evening.
Obviously it was not busy at this time but it did fill up later. So, to say it wasn't busy at the time, we all thought the service was very poor. Only one of the four staff members that served us did so with any enthusiasm, or a smile. The menus were handed out with no mention of any 'specials' and we could see others tucking into dishes that weren't on the menu.
We had no issues whatsoever with the dishes we did order, which were beautifully presented and cooked. However we had to wait too long between courses as the number of diners increased. I think many were regular clientele and the staff seemed very chatty and attentive to them.
Paying the bill also involved a lengthy wait. However the final young waiter that took our payment and brought our change was great. He was friendly and very helpful, it's just a shame some of his colleagues didn't share his enthusiasm.
So, in summary, good food was let down by poor service on this occasion. Having eaten at other restaurants in Polis, some of which are just a stones throw away from Finikas, we decided that they offered a better experience. I think we were just unlucky on our visit but sadly we all agreed,...
Read moreWe've just got home from a lovely night out. I'm absolutely busting from the delicious food here. We decided tonight we would try this restaurant going on the reviews we had read. I am absolutely pleased to say we were not disappointed. We arrived to be greeted immediately and shown to a suitable table. So far so good, great service. The restaurant had a good number of diners in, which is really nice to see.
We ordered our drinks, a 1 litre carafe of house wine tonight was 18 euros, absolute bargain. We decided to share a starter of Spinach pie and a Greek salad. Delicious. And both followed this with the same main dish of suckling pig. OMG this was delicious... never in my life did I think I would visit Cyprus and pick a dish such as this, don't know why!! It was served with the best mashed potato ever, and vegetables, cooked perfectly. I had the Baklava with ice cream for desert. The food was amazing. The staff were brilliant, very attentive. I heard a table nearby say it was their 1st time in Cyprus, a waitress went above and beyond to tell them of all the best places nearby they could visit. We are staying in the beautiful Villa Petrochtisto in Pomos, and when speaking to our waiter, he asks are we staying nearby, we tell him we are staying In Pomos, which is where he is from , he tells us. Thank you Finikas for a great meal. I would highly recommend, and may pop back in on our next visit to...

The staff here was excellent — polite, friendly, and overall really nice.
Would I come again? Probably not. And here’s why:
Atmosphere: It was fine inside, nothing bad, but also nothing special. There’s no real view, nothing you couldn’t find somewhere else. Disclaimer: The toilets had no toilet paper and the bins were broken — not a great impression.
The biggest letdown — the food: We came after reading so many glowing reviews: “Amazing!” “We’ll definitely come back!” … Well, sorry, but I call lies. • Feta ‘crusted’ chicken — without exaggeration, the saltiest thing I’ve ever eaten in my life, I get the hall feta thing, but put something on the dish to break the saltines • Pork chop — decent, sure, but nothing you couldn’t get at the restaurant across the street (which I’ve tried and enjoyed more).
At least the prices were reasonable for a tourist area, so I’ll give them that.
If you want to come here, go ahead — but do yourself a favor and avoid ordering what we...
