What a delight! Our first time in Cyprus in July and we were so glad to discover the Promdromi Village Tavern in the heat one day when we needed some cooling drinks! The wonderful women of the tavern were preparing stuffed courgette flowers and other, traditional, authentic Cypriot foods. We returned one night and purchased several foods to take away, back to our accomodation to eat. We asked what was vegan and there were about 5 different options! We bought the courgette flowers, which had already piqued my interest, some couscous and a dish of big beans! All of it was just delicious and we were so grateful to find traditional dishes that are also vegan. For those who are omnivorous the Cypriot taxi driver we had one day told us that this tavern sells the best chicken he's ever had in his lifetime (and he's well travelled!) and that he often goes there to take away. Read moreWe decided to visit this restaurant because of the good reviews on Google. We left with mixed feelings. The service (two older ladies) was fine. One of the ladies listed the available dishes, and we chose their specialty—grilled chicken, with potatoes and salad on the side. The food was OK—nothing fantastic, but nothing terrible either. The chicken was completely average. The potatoes had a strange taste, were dry, unsalted, and the portion was small. The salad was fine. We also got some complimentary bread with margarine. For the meal, we paid €52 for four people, which seemed quite high for average grilled chicken with bad potatoes, salad, and four drinks. While the price wasn’t financially crippling, it certainly didn’t match the quality or portion size. In my opinion, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant, and I wouldn’t...
