EDIT 06/06: I had to change to 5 stars. I just cannot stop coming to this place. That has to mean something. Don't let the indoor simple design fool you. This is a top notch place. Will come again and again. We even buy vouchers and give them out to friends to encourage them to try the restaurant!
EDIT 25/04: Waiters now speak English, I'm learning Czech but that's a nice thing now for people not knowing a word of Czech. All menus are in English too. I found everything being perfect except for the waiters not knowing English. That'd be the 5th star.
Pros:
-quiet location -nice idea of the family pictures on display all over the place -beautiful menus -incredible variety of whiskeys and liquors -beautiful menu and rich in options -Michelin star -excellent customer service, smiling all the way -finally some appropriate music. Jazz music instead of commercial bests you hear in many pubs and restaurants in the city center
Cons:
-the view is limited by other nearby buildings, but what can you do about that -waiters that served us didn't speak English. But perhaps I should learn Czech?
Conclusion:
Loved it, we'll be returning for dinner soon!...
Read moreTotally enjoy the whole meal! Definitely worth the visit after you taste it (though it might be a little bit far away from the city centre)!
We ordered a 4-course meal, every dish surprises me with the lovely taste!
Game pâté goes well with the pear marinated in red wine and elderberry glazé. They are just like meant to be together!
Seafood borscht is very rich with lots of seafood in! It’s like eating tomatoes.
Pike-perch is just sooooo smooth. Crispy at the outer layer and soft in the middle. So fresh! Wrapped with the Parma ham just spices up the taste and enhance the layer. Texture of risotto is perfect! Not too soft or hard! A bit sour taste of zucchini just refreshes the heaviness of risotto! Nice!
The quail is just right! The stuffing is unexpectedly matched! The glazed beet root goes well with the parsnip! Nice!
A great dinner ended with a nice dessert! Not too sweet is always my choice! Great smooth créme brûlée!
100% revisit when I come to...
Read moreSurprise, surprise - this awesome foodie's paradise is on the hill indeed. Make sure to take a taxi there - or be ready to work out for your dish very hard.
However, once you get there... Your taste buds will be rewarded with delicious meals. I had Provencal fish soup with saffron aioli and garlic baguette, their signature "on the hill" beef tartar and sorbet with prosecco.
The soup was very strong in flavour. The flavour exploded in my mouth like fireworks. I'd never imagine you could put so much flavour into fish broth.
Beef tartar was gentle and sophisticated. I consider beef tartar a "pub meal" with garlic fried bread - guys On the hill however created something divine and worth every penny. Fries and salad were great companions. This cow didn't die for nothing.
In a nutshell, this venue serves well balanced food. It's not a trendy hipster place copying Scandinavian trends - it's a safe harbour of...
