Breakfast was good. It stopped at that.
When we requested a room with a river view on the website, they said okay. When we arrived, they gave us a room facing the road and trees. They didn't honour their promise and didn't apologise for failing to show good hospitality.
On the first day that we should have had a good night sleep, someone at the rooftop blasted metal songs consecutively for two hours. I suspected the staff fell asleep up there while listening to the music.
The next day, when I asked the reception, the guy only said that there were rowdy guests partying on the rooftop and ignored the botel's advice. That's a lie because I didn't hear any sound of people chatting.
They didn't even bother to apologise.
Sound proofing at this botel is terrible, you could even hear the stomping of the footsteps.
And the toilet. Omg. It's very small that if you lift up your elbow and turn your body, chances are you will hit the wall. Don't get me started on the flooding. Terrible. The size of the toilet certainly is not for big built ans tall westerners.
Although the botel means it sits by the river, but you hardly get that experience, unless your room is facing the river or when you hang out at the rooftop.
There's a lot of other hotels near the tram. Since the tram in Prague is efficient and extensive, I suggest you stay elsewhere and especially if you need a...
Read moreThe idea at itself is good and we‘ve choosen it to try something new, but unfortunately was not that special experience as expected.
Location: of course a very good location because of the view, in case you have a Room with River-view, other than that, not a very active area of the city, even McDonalds, which located on the other side of the street was closed. A bit away from the city center on foot. A minus point is Parking, one has to pay extra 400 CK= 17 Euro for one night, plus you have to take your car at the check out day maximum by 14:00 (2:00 pm), cause it a small parking-place. We wanted to leave our car there and go through the city, but that was un-practical, just to have 4 hours between check-out time (10:00 am) and 2:00 pm.
Rooms: Tidy and clean, beds are a bit comfortable. Negative points: Toilet is a bit small. Rooms do not have any Art of hospitality, for example Water, Coffee, Tea..etc. Just Towels and Shower-Gel, even no cleaning-kit. But to be honest, at the reception i‘ve asked for a electric kettle and the gave me one, so finally we have got hot water for our own Coffee
Breakfast: on booking Website stands that a marvelous breakfast is awaiting for us at the morning, so special as we thought wasn’t it. All bakerys’ Products weren‘t freshly baked.
Personal: all stuff were very friendly and nice. That was a big positive point...
A floating slice of old-school Prague charm
I stayed at Botel Vodnik earlier this year, and it’s a stay I’ll remember fondly.
This is not your typical chain hotel, it’s a boat, anchored right on the river, with an unbeatable view across to Vyšehrad. In the mornings, you can sit on the top deck with your coffee or a smoke and hear the cathedral bells ringing over the water a truly magical Prague moment.
The location is fantastic: tram, metro, train, everything is just steps away. It’s the kind of spot where you feel connected to the city but slightly off the tourist track, which I loved.
Inside, the place has real character; old photos of Prague in the hallways, a feeling of history in the air. It’s clean, tidy, and welcoming a place with soul, not sterile polish. The breakfast was very enjoyable, and the riverside dining room adds to the experience.
And above all, the staff. Genuinely warm and helpful people who made my stay smooth and pleasant from start to finish.
Places like this are rare to find these days, affordable, authentic, and full of heart. Highly recommended if you want a stay that feels like your own little story in Prague, not just another night in a...
