This is a difficult review to write because I'm still full from yesterday.
I had the new 13 course tasting menu and I didn't expect the portion sizes to be so generous towards the end so I accidently enjoyed the addictive warm and fluffy bread with the bowl of balsamic and oil a bit too much but still devoured everything. The atmosphere and service was friendly, professional and warm. I can't fault it.
Out of all of the dishes only 1 was a tad disappointing it still had delicious flavor but deep fried scallops disappeared in the flavor of the brown butter ox fond sauce. I think that simple pan fried scallops would have been a better more fresh alternative and maybe compliment the whole menu more.
I had a delicious bottle of white wine that really complimented all of the dishes and with the Brisket the glass of red whine really made it pop. From the light and balanced Stracciatella tomato dish, to the filling but fresh Brisket with homemade pesto pasta and everything in between I can definitely recommending...
Read moreRestaurant Basso is a nice addition to the Aarhusian restaurant scene. The service is nice and somewhat attentive (a little startled by first arrivals’ wish to sit at a nice table and not by the kitchen).
The food is tasty and on theme with the Italian style. Especially the smoked crème and dried tomatoes were delicious (served in a watery potato). The grilled artichoke heart was beautiful and the chicken crispy and tender. However, the food needed a tad of salt here and there, and the pasta side dish was - dare I say - boring. The truffle risotto was creamy and… sturdy but had a fine taste of white truffle. The ice cream was served 5-10 minutes too late, more resembling soft ice than the cold dessert we all know. Overall, the food looked beautiful and tasted well enough.

Read moreWe went for the Sunday tasting, but all of us truly felt it was missing many italian dishes. Good service and environment but some of the food was lacking flavour. We had a tomato risotto that reminded us of a canned tomato soup with a lot of pure from the grocery store..I’d say 50% of the dishes were fantastic, but the others just didn’t live up to such good ratings. We were disappointed we didn’t get much pasta, as that’s what we were excited for. It was very nice to see the waitress ask how we felt about the food and how it could be improved as that is why they do the tasting menu to try out new dishes :) I was also surprised I left not completely full and that was after 13 dishes. I felt like there could’ve been some more protein. Still a pleasant night and would maybe...
