I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mefisto in Aarhus, and while the food itself was undeniably delicious, my overall experience was somewhat marred by the service.
Let's start with the positives: The food at Mefisto is truly good. My girlfriend got the mussels and I got the brunch menu. The flavors were rich and well-balanced, and it's evident that the kitchen team takes pride in the quality of their dishes. From the first bite to the last, I thoroughly enjoyed the food.
However, the great food unfortunately couldn't overshadow the rather disappointing service experience. Despite the tantalizing menu and the anticipation of savoring the dishes, my girlfriend and I found ourselves waiting for an extensive hour and a half before our food was finally brought to our table. This wait became increasingly perplexing when we noticed a larger group of three people, who arrived after us, being served their meals before us.
The disparity in service timing left us feeling a bit disheartened, as we had hoped for a seamless and timely dining experience. While we understand that busy periods can lead to delays, the stark difference in treatment between our table and others was difficult to ignore. It's important for any restaurant to ensure consistent service quality for all patrons, regardless of the size of their party.
In conclusion, I would recommend Mefisto for its delectable food. The culinary offerings are certainly a highlight. However, I must also share that the service issues I encountered did impact the overall enjoyment of the evening. It's my sincere hope that Mefisto addresses these concerns, as the combination of exceptional food and excellent service is what truly elevates a...
Read moreI think this was the best meal I've had in Denmark. First of all, the crusty rolls and butter they give you immediately were great. What's in the delicious whipped garlic butter??? Why is it bright green??? I don't know, and I don't care, it was incredible. I ordered the stjerneskud "shooting star" and it was HUGE - three different kinds of fish cooked (in my admittedly inexpert opinion) very well, lots of little shrimp, some kind of spicy mayonnaise, salad, lemon, all on rye (?) bread. Thank you to the kind waiter who warned me I didn't need another appetizer to go with it. I couldn't even finish it. The aperol spritz was good as well, and everyone else in the place seemed to be having a great time. There was even a surprise engagement at another table the night I was there (she said yes). It's pricey but you definitely get what you pay for. Wonderful...
Read moreWe were recommended this restaurant by the hotel concierge. It’s right around the corner from where we were staying and the area it’s in is quite nice. The place looks great and when we were invited to dine in the garden we were pleasantly surprised at the cozy environment there.
Sadly the food and service let it down. The wait staff were great but our mains took a long time to arrive. Our waitress even deducted our drinks from the bill to compensate for the long wait.
The kids had fish and chips which were pretty good. I ordered the lemon sole which is probably the worst I’ve ever had. It was so oily and the fish was probably...
