We had their lunch menu at it was really nice. Started off with pasta in a mushroom broth which had this really really flavorful filling that blew us away. I had no idea what the filling consisted of but I know for sure that it was top class. Maybe my favorite of the entire menu.
Then we had a serving of their homemade focaccia and whipped butter, also super good! I always appreciate great baked goods and I must say the quality here was top notch.
The main course was the most underwhelming. It was fish, served with a hollandaise-esque sauce which they called fish demi glace. The fish was cooked absolutely perfectly, not doubt about it, but the sauce was not to my liking. Flavors were nice, but honestly I thought it was way too thick. As if they had cooked it at a too high temperature or whipped it too much. It tasted like a subpar hollandaise which didn’t fit the quality of the rest of the dishes. It was accompanied by a rather basic beetroot salad. Nothing wrong with it, but again didn’t fit the quality and it felt rather plain. We were told it was to cut the fattyness of the fish and sauce, but I believe other sides would have accomplished this better.
For dessert we had a flan, with a bit of licorice powder, candied sunflower seeds and cream I believe. Really really tasty, didn’t blow you away either but definitely delicious.
All in all, I would say price to quality ratio is OK. From the starter you have very high expectations, and then the quality dips just a bit. I would come back however! I will try an evening tasting menu too. I thought it was good, and definitely deserves a second try.
I don’t know if I am a fan of the social dining aspect I have to admit. I understand it’s a part of the experience, but I think with our group they fell a bit short on the concept. The guests are supposed to converse and have a good time, share the meals, share the experience and all that stuff. I really get it - but we’re in Denmark 😂 it’s not happening. People who can afford to pay for such an experience, would probably rather just sit with their partner/family and enjoy without feeling pressured to engage with their table-mates. I felt it was a bit awkward to share your sides with the people around you, honestly I want my own stuff but that’s just me. I don’t think that kinda stuff works that well here, but props for pushing boundaries. I just didn’t notice anyone actually buying into that part of the concept.
5 starts regardless, could be 4 but I respect the...
Read moreWe visited the restaurant on August 14th with four friends. When we arrived on time, we had to wait 30 minutes because the table was not ready yet. This was not a problem, as we could enjoy the beautiful garden, and the location is wonderfully situated on the rooftop. We settled in and ordered the 5-course menu with à la carte wine. As a chef, I understand that the kitchen is very small and has limited options, but one can still serve 26 people simultaneously. The food was generally decent, except for the smoked course, the dessert, and the focaccia, which were very good. However, the portions were too small and unfortunately didn’t satisfy. With portions of this nature, 8-10 courses could have been served. The service was good, but considering we drank three bottles of wine and paid 1,400 DKK, one might expect a bit more in terms of culinary execution. The wines were excellent and special. This is a very professional review from a chef, and I hope you take it into account for the future. I noticed on the plate that the chefs surely have the knowledge and know-how, but including a salad in a 5-course menu with just two lettuce leaves, some fennel blossoms, and preserved tomatoes feels a bit cheeky. I’m typically a personal person, and this is my first review. However, I did not feel that anyone would take my criticism to heart after the meal. Please continue cooking as before, but with larger portions and more flavor and aromas; there should be a bit more taste to it. We had a fantastic evening thanks to the location and the four bottles of wine, and I wish you...
Read moreThis sort of restaurant is why some people have a prejudice against organic/local food. The most expensive meal we had in Coepnhagen, and definitely the WORST.
Food is passable at best, the wine a travesty, service warm but unprofessional. Atmosphere is alright but the price is simply ridiculous. Steer clear unless you have money and time to waste.
Service: Despite the reservation being for 8:30, we weren't seated at the table til 9. The staff took drink orders, but there are only a few seats available outside, so many had to stand awkwardly for 30+ minutes. Why not just let people sit at the table?
Also, one of our dishes arrived without a carrot and had to be sent back for it.
Food and wine: The dishes are discordant. The flavours are unsophisticated and don't mesh together. It feels like they threw together whatever they had at hand without any consideration.
The first two courses were okay, if a bit small-portioned. The goat's cheese was too heavy, and the fish (which was the main course) came with a very strong sweet wine sauce that completely overpowered the delicate white fish. The dessert was the worst. How do you manage to mess up dessert?
The less said about the wine, the better. One, they don't change glasses. Second, they give you very little. Two sips at most. Third, the wine is generally weak and watery and does not pair well with the dishes. Especially courses 3 to 5.
I liked the concept, hence the reservation. But the execution is hideous and the...
