Hot Pot Republic is such a nice restaurant. I’ve been several times over the years. It’s a great spot for a social dining experience, perfect for sharing food with friends or partners. You cook everything yourself at the table in a shared hot pot, so it can be really fun and interactive, but you have to enjoy this style of dining. Last time I brought my colleagues, and reactions were mixed—half enjoyment, half frustration. They're big guys who got a bit impatient with the small pieces and the cooking time. Despite this, they found it funny and even talked about returning with their girlfriends, who they thought would love it. I found that amusing—definitely a cosy and intimate experience, ideal for couples or smaller groups. Four people around one hot pot might feel a bit crowded, but I've done it before, and it worked fine; it really depends on the group. This time we had the full menu: starter, hot pot, and dessert. The starter—enoki mushrooms in tempura—was amazing. The dessert, however, was disappointing. It was tofu-based, and though I usually enjoy tofu, it didn't really work as a dessert. The cocktails were excellent, surprisingly creative, and full of flavour. Definitely don’t skip them if you visit. Overall, it's a 5 out of 5 from me—just consider carefully if your dining companions will appreciate this slower-paced, social style of eating.

A regrettable experience I have been visiting this establishment for years and must admit the quality has decreased. We had booked a table and were looking forward to the experience. Service was a bit off and rushed. The food was fine, but the presentation was stacked, and several of the usual ingredients were now add-ons. The food used to be much more varied and delicious, and it used to be presented better. The broths have also been altered and were more salty. While there, the tone and demeanour of the waitresses became rushed (also there were plenty of tables available). We were told we had about 35 min to finish and we asked for dessert and drinks. We were still eating when the waitress came over with the dessert and expected us to clear up the table so that she could place them. Mind you, we were still eating. We lost our appetites and decided to swiftly finish the dessert and drinks we had just ordered before paying the bill. In conclusion, the restaurant is awful at time management. They overbook tables and rush customers out of the restaurants to make up for their mess. This is not the first time we have experienced this but decided to give them a chance or two. We sadly won't be coming back.

I used to live in Melbourne and I've missed its amazing hot pot restaurants since moving to Copenhagen. I'm so happy that Hot Pot Republic has filled that hole in my stomach! We tried the non-vegetarian platter with both the spicy and umami broths. The amount of meat, veggies, mushrooms, etc. you get is plenty enough to to fill you up. I was also pleasantly surprised to find the spicy broth to be actually spicy! It's not quite as spicy as I would personally want, but it's far more spicy than what you can usually find in Denmark. They also have good deals on Tsingtao beer and tasty sesame-redbean balls for dessert. The price was also very nice. With food, drinks, dessert, and tea, it was only about 400 kr per person The only thing I can find to complain about is that I'd like a bit more dipping sauce to come with the meal. Other than that it was excellent food, excellent atmosphere, and excellent price. July 2018 update: They've now moved to Vesterbrogade in an alley shared with a cocktail bar. Still excellent quality!

This was very disappointing and I was honestly excited to try it out when I had first heard of it.

The servers were nice but didn't properly explain what came with the hot pot meals, which were priced at 265 PER person. When we asked for a cheaper alternative that was listed on the menu they told us that they were out of that soup, and we had to go with the more expensive option.

When looking at the website, the ingredients are listed but not the exact amount, and we had the expectation that given the exorbitant price we would be getting a lot more than we did, and not the smaller amount we got that we had to split amongst three people. The main thing on the website is to book a time and table, and once there we felt pressured to continue with the food and pay despite the disconnect.

They then gave us a limited amount of ingredients to use that was a lot less than expected for the price we are paying, additionally the meat was not fresh but frozen and also the dumplings, at this price I expected them to at least handmake it...

Extra ingredients were even more expensive, and seeing a table nearby with 2 people, it seemed as if they were given the same amount of ingredients as we were, and we were a party of 3.

Also, I'm not sure how it should taste but honestly most of the ingredients were bland. The most flavorful things was the dumplings and the peanut sauce, and everything else had this tasteless Ness.

If you want an authentic hotpot experience, I don't recommend this overpriced restaurant. Be aware of what you're getting with what you get and what they are...
