I don't have anything good to say about this place. The main issue was the staff were rude and confrontational. We asked for water for the table and the waiter flat out said 'no'. When we asked why he said 'because we can sell you more expensive things'. This was despite most of us ordering other drinks as well. Also, when the salad included in my meal didn't arrive he denied it was even on the menu. I had to show him the menu to prove I was entitled to it! I know the Danish restaurant culture is generally less service orientated and staff don't hover around you eager to help, but this went far beyond 'hands-off' - it was downright rude.
As for the food, it was pretty poor - overcooked and greasy. My friend and I ordered the same thing and it came on one plate that we had to share.
The atmosphere was pretty hostile too; the other diners stared at us suspiciously. This place is very Danish and very working class, a combination which unfortunately tends to produce an atmosphere hostile to foreigners. Being English, I felt just as unwelcome as in a tiny village pub in rural Scotland or Wales.
So if you're a blue collar Dane looking for a no-frills greasy spoon, this is your place. Anyone else...
Read moreUgly, inhospitable place, if you are a tourist you will definitely not choose it because they literally hate tourists, we came from a neighborhood hoping to find a good restaurant when we want to not cook at home, but since we don't speak Danish, they thought we were tourists and ruined it us from disrespect and rudeness! So, we ordered the most expensive beer on tap in Copenhagen because here it is as much as 80 crowns! The portions of the dishes were between 200 and 325 dkk (that's between 26 and 45 € per plate!!!) So I chose a dish of 43 Euros per plate and said that we would share it, because it was late and we were not in the mood to overeat! To that, the rude waiter replied that it was impossible because we had to order two dishes, otherwise the owner would kick us out!!! So if you decide to come and spend 70 euros for dinner instead of the 100 they planned, they will kick you out! In the end, they insisted that we pay in EUROS, and that they do not accept cards, which was very humiliating! Dear neighbors, you are rather UNPROFESSIONAL AND THIS IS NOT HOW THE HOSPITALITY BUSINESS IS...
Read moreThe food was really good and the price not too expensive, as it can easily be the case in this city. Unfortunately the service was very very poor. We ordered two mains and one entree for sharing and the waiter arrived with two entrees. When we mentioned that we only wanted one for sharing he came up with this ridiculous story about not being able to share either first courses or second courses or even desserts!!!!!! madness. He insisted that it was like this in all Copenhaguen, like a strange local custom. So we were forced to eat two entrees of salmon that we did not want and ordered only one main as my husband was not hungry anymore (but he tried my second course anyway behind the back of the police-waiter). We never undertood what had happened, maybe they don't like tourists? it was a very local restaurant. It was our first night in Copenhaguen and this waiter really ruined it. It was good that the city made it up for us as we had many many other chances to try wonderful Copenhaguen delicious food - while sharing as much as we...
