We had an OK experience going to young sushi. The food was decent but the service left something to be desired.
When arrived we sat down we receive an iPad with no instructions and had to go up twice to ask how to order. First to ask how many orders we could make (the answer was unlimited but this should be written on the iPad somewhere and it’s not), the second was to ask what the code was to order as you needed to enter a code to make the order (again this should be written somewhere or explained when you get the iPad.)
The restaurant was half empty but we had to wait for a long time for each order we made with the iPad and the food came out very randomly, one dish or two dishes at a time.
We were there from 19:30-21:00 and we received 3 orders in that time. In total we got 34 pieces of sushi, 4 fried prawns, 2 gyoza, edamame and 6 pieces of chicken karaage.
We waited 30 min for the first dish of edamame, and then another 10 for two prawns, two pieces of chicken karaage and two gyoza. We never received the miso soup we ordered.
We ordered sushi as soon as the edamame arrived but it took another 30 min. A further order we made before we finished the first plate of sushi and that took another 15 minutes. At the end we wanted to order more but felt like it would take too long and we had been there too long. We were with two others who didn’t get the ad libitum sushi and their food came on its own when we didn’t have any food which was a bit awkward and they finished their food long before our order came.
Another note about the service is we were new to restaurant dining in Denmark and did not know that tap water was not free but they didn’t let us know that until we went to pay. It’s on the menu as “Postevand” which is not clear that it’s tap water. It was 35 DKK per person and if we had known that we would have ordered soda or beer (which were only a bit more). Other than that the price was pretty good.
As for the food - it was pretty good. The starters we had were freshly prepared and hot and tasty. Only comment is sauce would be nice for the chicken karaage. I wish they had given us wasabi with all of the sushi - it only came with the first plate of sushi but...
Read moreDid you say AYCE sushi in Copenhagen? Yes, that’s right! We were more than impressed with the quality of salmon from this place, buttery, soft, and super fresh. We ate here twice during our Scandinavian adventure, at the start and finish. The owners are very nice and the food worth every penny. There is only one sushi chef so be patient and you will be highly rewarded. We all know it’s not cheap to eat in Nordic countries and the food rather bland overall but this was the exception. It can be slow service if they have lots of to-go orders during rush hour but if you have the time...
