Absolutely spectacular—if you’re looking for a masterclass in how not to run a restaurant. First, the booking system: pay upfront, book 7 months ahead, and if life throws a curveball—like your wife landing in the hospital—tough luck. No refunds.
Once you arrive, the fun continues. They strip you—of your jacket. Feeling cold inside? Not their problem. Need to step outside for a call? Enjoy the communal blanket shared by smokers and non-smokers alike. You want your jacket? Think again.
The menu? A true comedy special. No potatoes or gravy at a Danish Julefrokost—a bold artistic choice. Truly a Michelin-star-worthy celebration of mediocrity for only 150€ per person.
The waitstaff? Simply delightful. Forget having any say in your meal. You’re lucky they let you stay. But don’t expect to linger—oh no! They rush you through the courses like a knife through butter. Why? So they can stop serving the supposedly ad-libitum beer.
And tourists, beware: that cozy “hygge” glow? Pure illusion. The place is dirty and decadent, with toilets straight out of the Middle Ages.

Read moreA really fantastic experience! Danish "smørrebrød". We had "Stor lux Juleanretning". Lots of different types of bread with a mixture of different things you put on the bread. (In Norwegian we call it pålegg, and it has no translation to other languages, but it basically means: "Everything you can put on a peace of bread".) And of course whatever "whatnot" your tastebuds can desire. This eating experience was hightened to a joyful level by the experienced waiters that were both polite, but also funny with their comments while serving us. We ate until being "stuffed", and l recommend this place for everybody who enjoy the combination of good food and a good laugh! We will definitely come back! We have been back in 2023, and the experience was again amazing! And the waiters were just as funny and service minded...
Read moreWell … I actually found out this restaurant from one of famous food bloggers from USA who based in Bangkok. You already guess it right? Yes, he is Mark Weins. He visited this restaurant around 4 years ago. But I would say this restaurant is still worth to visit.
I order the same set menu as he did. Lunch something” (the second menu of the list).
You will get 2 types of Herring, smoke salmon, fish and chips, chicken salad with bacon, plus grape with cheese as the dessert (I guess).
I come with 3 people, 2 portions of lunch menu (mandatory to order at least 2 portions) are more than enough. We are full to the max.
Very recommended place, nearby the castle. Many locals as well, I still remember there is 1 table that sit before us and still not yet leaving when we check out.
So, please spare your time to visit this classic Danish restaurant when you are visiting...
