Mielcke & Hurtigkarl | Restaurant on Frederiksberg You will not be dissatisfied when coming here, and I am glad to add a little color to the place :) When you love food, you just do, and I do love good food, especially in portions. This was an extra treat after my long journey of driving to Copenhagen from Halmstad. I am glad that my reservation at Noma didn't happen because this place was on point with every meal that was served. The elegance of the decor, the colorful chandeliers—just dazzlingly beautiful. The service was top-notch from the moment I walked in. Here are all the delicious things I had: Shiso & Oyster - HAMACHI Cod Roe & Blood Grape - LUMPFISH ROE Bergamot & Anchovy - ONION Radish & Sorrel - HALIBUT Shiso & Broccoli - BLUE MUSSEL Trout Roe & Egg Yolk - CROUSTADE Vanilla & Bourbon - LANGOUSTINE Green Asparagus & Pistachio - TURBOT Hazelnuts & Truffle - MUSHROOM Pineapple & Miso - MUSHROOM Mascarpone & Lettuce - GREEN STRAWBERRY Nobilis & Caramel - CHOCOLATE Lemon Verbena & Pistachio - KRINGLE Pine - MADELEINE
The food was phenomenal, the service was incredible, and the staff were very knowledgeable about the dishes. Each plate was presented with amazing artistry. I highly recommend this spot—let me know what you think!
The last pictures here show what they put on the table if it's for one guest. Pretty ingenious if you ask me :)

Read moreUpon entering this picturesque orangerie you feel at home right away, seated underneath the high ceiling and surrounded by the refined details of the historic building. The walls are studded with works of art and visitors to the restrooms are serenaded with the sounds of lapping waves and fluttering butterflies. The decor itself reflects dedication to the magic of details, something that is emphasised further by the eclectic and extensive Metamorphosis menu. It takes you on a worldwide foray through Asia over France and back to Frederiksberg with an audaciousness, veracity and assurance in each serving that is palpable. The staff exude the expertise, attentiveness and professionalism it takes to make a dining experience enjoyable with a restrained elegance. The wine list is a treasure trove for those who wish to go à la carte, while the pairings are adventurous. In a time where Danish fine dining more often than not has succumbed to fanciful dishes and whimsical experiences, this restaurant is a port in the storm. The food served at Mielcke & Hurtigkarl is not esoteric nor is it vainglorious, it is imaginative, candid and outright savory. The outcry for this gem to be properly recognised by the international food establishment is fully justified, the prices are comparatively fair and I could not recommend this immaculate...
Read moreWhew, what a rollercoaster
We had a pleasant time at Mielcke og Hurtigkarl, the waiters are very kind and knowledgeable.
The food, however, was a real rollercoaster. Some of the dishes were genius, others to our taste was downright bland and, in all honesty, uninspiring. Especially the cheese and chocolate dessert really didn't work for us (and we love both cheese and chocolate normally). However, the coconut ice cream was probably the best coconut dessert we have ever had.
The wine and kombucha parings were delightful, and I can't say a single bad thing about those. In some instances, the drinks we had were much more interesting than the dish they were paired with.
We may have just been unlucky with the current menu, but overall, we were left with a feeling of slight disappointment.
I'd still recommend trying this place out, as the few dishes that worked did so very, very well, and probably worth the visit just for those. However, you may be in for...
