Della Piazza — Restaurant in Hillerød Municipality

Duero a new restaurant in town, but need more TLC food wise!

I had looked forward to this new eatery in Hillerød, and hoped it could be another 'jewel' for the town, with regards to Mr Singh's which we discovered 6 month earlier.

We bumped into some friends on the way to Duero and was told it was just an 'OK' experience - but thought they probably did not appreciate the Spanish kitchen and kept the positive expectation!

Upon arrival we decided to go for the 'Menu de la Casa' and picked an excellent red wine to accompany the many dishes.

First impression was high, with excellent service throughout the evening, equally a nice ambience in the restaurant and for those two reasons, Duero manages to score a 3 x star rating!

The food however was not that impressive and unfortunately at a level, that we are not going to return for another meal service in the near future!

PAN CON TOMATE - I was not sure if it was the bread version selected or the bread was just too stale, but it was not grilled / toasted sufficiently to kill the 'stale taste', which turned down the experience, and equally the tomato base just couldn't compensate for this + it too was a bit flat in taste.

ALBONDIGAS CASERAS - Probably some of the most sad tasting Spanish meatballs we have ever tried, just bland, boring and the tomato sauce failed as well.

CARNE DEL DIA - For our main we ordered lamb and beef respectively. Both the beef and the lamb was roasted to perfection (medium), but a total turn off, serving it with frozen based vegetables and potato wedges. I can't remember the last time I was served frozen based vegetables, but probably one of the most bland tasting experiences and with potato wedges, which had not been properly roasted or spiced to compliment the meat experience. It really crashed the whole dinner experience for the evening and set the standard of the restaurant quality!

POSTRE DEL DIA - Nice assortment of local desserts from Spain, all nice, but I would rather prefer half the selection and get the kitchen to focus on the tapas and main dishes perfection, as for me the desserts cannot save a set dinner like this.

An successful ethnic restaurant will serve food to a level, so you don't have to jump on a plane, in this case Spain......but Duero is just not there and it leaves you with a mixed and disappointed experience.

Duero Management Team, please provide some TLC to the kitchen soonest, so you can get the 5 x star rating in place and allow...

We began our experience with the Bruschettas, light and flavourful with just the right note of garlic and basil. The Spaghetti Bolognese, Pizza Della Piazza, and Mare Monti are equally distinguished in flavour, beautifully presented, and made with evident care and high-quality ingredients.

The extensive menu caters to both traditional tastes and more refined preferences, with dishes such as Vitello Tonnato, Ravioli al Tartufo, and a well-curated à la carte selection including veal and entrecôte options. Their desserts—particularly the Panna Cotta and Tiramisu—are the perfect finale to an already superb meal.

After visiting the famous Frederiksborg castle, me and my friends went to that new Italian restaurant (Della Piazza). Being an "Italian" food lover, I have in general high expectations that are rarely fulfilled. Della piazza was worth visiting and absolutely exceeded my expectations. From the moment we stepped inside, the warm and inviting ambiance made us feel at home. The decor perfectly combined modern elegance with a touch of Italian charm, creating a cozy yet refined atmosphere.

The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, going above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was exceptional. They were knowledgeable about the menu and provided excellent recommendations tailored to our preferences.

Each dish was a masterpiece, showcasing the finest ingredients and traditional Italian flavors with a creative twist. The pasta was freshly made, cooked to perfection, and paired with rich, flavorful sauces. The pizza had the perfect balance of a thin, crispy crust and generously fresh toppings. As for the dessert – the tiramisu was divine, probably the best I've had outside of Italy.

What stood out the most was the attention to detail and authenticity. You could tell that the chef takes immense pride in their craft, ensuring that every bite was memorable. Della Piazza is not just a restaurant? it's an experience that transports you straight to Italy.

I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a true taste of Italian cuisine, and I'm already looking forward to...
