The building is being repaired as I went there, the inside is cleaned and well-maintained. The artworks of the royals and the shields are a bit special though, I also enjoyed the nouveau history bit that was shown on the third floor. The price was good for such a big exhibition.
Now as for why I'm only rating it 3 stars, I personally don't think it's worth going out of your way to buy a ticket outside of Copenhagen to go here, because the inside of the castle looks a lot like that of any other's in Europe that I've been in so it's not very memorable and the vicinity is pretty bland in comparison with the inner part of the city.. don't misunderstand though, I'm not warning anyone against visiting this. Read moreThis is a very busy spot, with an enormous amount of exhibits to see. We had the smARTify app, but service (data) and wifi were not reliable for us there so we didn’t end up using it much. Download it in advance if you want to listen to the audio guide as you go. The palace itself is gorgeous, definitely take your time taking in the details of each room as well as the paintings and exhibits. Kids can try on period costumes in the great hall and there is an activity book for them. You can easily spend a whole day here. We were there on a stormy, rainy day but the grounds look lovely and I imagine they would be awesome on a sunny day. It is easy to transit here from Copenhagen centre. Check out the street food nearby for a fun, cozy...
