Lovely place, refurbished during 2021 lockdown and have phased out the running sushi-belt. Instead, orders are placed on a tablet at the table and the food is made, quick and fresh to order. The concept seemed almost like a fastfood counter, but it quickly grew on me, and has the advantage of offering detailed descriptions of the sushi and small dishes that are included in the deal. You can make as many smaller orders as you like, and the different types of sushi and rolls come in differing amounts depending on the type. Despite this means seeing a lot less of the staff, they are aware and very friendly and helpful. They were even kind enough to let us take our pram into the restaurant itself and have it parked next to our table. Really made the evening easier for families with children.
The food itself is very tasty and especially the duck dishes are well prepared with a delicious crispy skin. The sushi is well shaped and the tastes are well-balanced.
The location is lovely, with a nice, elevated view Holbæk Harbour you don't find anywhere else in town.
Atmosphere is somewhere along the lines of modern/pop-Japanese, which means the music is a bit upbeat for a more traditional Japanese approach. The music isn't loud though, so can easily be overheard. The acoustics are great and interior decor nice without being overdone. Well suited for a modern/Western sushi experience, which one should remember has little to do with its traditional Japanese origins.
At the price point, this restaurant is simply a bargain, and I would highly it to anyone looking for sushi in...
Read moreAside from waiting for 30 minutes for only half of our order, despite there only being 10-15 other guests on a Saturday night, we received frozen and crunchy sashimi, sushi rolls with wet/soggy fish and rice that came apart if you tried to pick it up. There were strange additions to classic rolls like the Alaska and California, consisting of thick apple slices, and freeze dried strawberry pieces, as well as copious amounts of coriander and mayo in and on everything. We also ordered what was advertised as "assorted fruits" which turned out to be three pieces of slightly brown apples. They forgot a third of our order, and delivered one piece (out of 4 ordered) of "salmon gunkan" without the salmon or roe, just rice wrapped in seaweed. Needless to say we didn't stick around for dessert, unwilling to see how that was going to go wrong, and we will not be returning either. The bottled elderflower...
Read moreThe food quality varies from visit to visit. At times the sushi will be excellent, and will taste wonderful. But sometimes it will be as if it has gotten slightly stale, as if it has stood out for too long. The food tastes good regardless, but it makes for a sub-par experience.
Twice, the fried noodles which I have gotten have been either badly burnt, or far too peppery. This has only happened twice out of a dozen or so take-out's, but it's still a negative.
Overall, the place is still good. The interior decoration is very relaxing, and there is a very nice view...
