Mangú — Restaurant in Higüey

We 5 adults 2 children stayed at this place from June 27 to July 1 . Ambiance is very good, very vast property , too much to walk to the lift I am 68 years old, from India, pure vegetarian, couldn't eat anything except for 2 slice of bread with jam or honey, few fruits, they keep half cooked boiled rice with rajma which I couldn't eat, they never use either chillies or chilli powder, very bland, finger chips or French fries also without salt . for 5 days I ate only fruits and had lemonade for lunch and dinner.. My son helped me and choose something veg and ordered for room service , again I got half cooked boiled rice, brinjal, capsicum tomatoes grilled with olive oil I suppose with very little salt, French fries without salt, bread toast with avavado spread, with onion cucumber and tomato slices, which I couldn't eat , asked the operator/ room service to send some chilli powder or pepper powder they said they don't have it. I couldn't eat any of these. I had a bottle of coke that's all. Vegetarians have a tough time regarding food Third day I asked a chef to give one avacado as I am unable to eat any of the items at the counter he said he will give never returned i doubt he understpod what i asked for , most of them cant speak or understand english later I peeped in and asked a staff member to give an avacado she said she will get never returned, I asked seeing girl none of them understood what I was asking after 45 minutes one chef came and gave me half avacado and said this was the last piece the had no more of it, I ate it with sugar. Coffee maker in the room was not working, I got it replaced . service is unsatisfactory, they take 45 minutes to one hour to serve the food items, House keeping is good but they never check/ clean the dust bin under the kitchen platform...

We ate at Mangu most of the days at lunch. It is one of the two restaurant we had lunch.other one was Aqua Marina at the beach. Staff is very nice and helpful. Food is good. We pretty much tried everything on the menu. My favorite was the Wagu steak, chicken Pica, Grilled chicken, Nachos and Maui Burger. The location is also very central to all other activities. Lobster was a miss. The fish cake is also more of potatoes & cheese than fish. It is good though!

The only question I have is who came up with the design of light...

Second time here. Staff very slow. Ignored my husbands drink order and appetizer order. Charged 50$ extra for lobster but waiting over an hour ( would have been helpful to know that lobster will be an hour- I wouldn’t have ordered it). Brought my beer in a yellow plastic cup. Update : after an hour the waiter said he never ordered my lobster. We left annoyed and hungry. How much you want to bet I see the 50$ lobster on our check...
