The Fish Market — Restaurant in Higüey

I wouldn’t recommend it, not at all. We had a 1900 booking and we arrived at 1845, the woman who greeted us had clearly got out of bed the wrong side and was rude and just told us to sit at this small bar and have a welcome drink, no how are you or asking if we have any dietary restrictions (which we did) we eventually after maybe 10 minutes got taken to our table which was probably the only positive as it does have stunning views. The food issues started once we had ordered, I ordered the main fish dish without muscles (not the $40 option, this will come clearer later) and my wife the $15 fish and chips. 35 minutes later I had a manager come to me asking if I had ordered the $40 mixed grill fish which I informed him I had not, I told him what I ordered and he then informed me that I had been charged $40 to the room for it, I told him that is not what I ordered and he went and removed it, after maybe another 15/20 minutes the food arrived (stone cold) and lo and behold I was given the $40 mixed grill fish which I had not wanted nor wanted to pay for, I was then informed by a server after the food had come out (including muscles, which I cant eat, which she said just put them on a side plate, when I gave her the side plate to take away she turned her nose up at me and we just put it on the side of the table) I was then told after food was on the tabl that anything with an Asterix (*) you have to pay extra for, which I informed the server that I was not informed of this before ordering. I eventually we got another manager over who to give him his credit did apologise but didn’t see the issue, eventually it turned into what can only be described as arguing with a brick wall and both my wife and I, got up and left, the staff just didn’t care, it felt a lot like we were put into a corner and forgotten about, I wouldn’t go back and it put a sour taste in our mouth on what is our honeymoon. As of writing this we haven’t been charged for the $40 mixed grilled fish or the $15 fish and chips so I guess that is the only icing...

Staff are friendly. The appetizers are decent. The mains may be good too, but out of five orders, no one got what they ordered. And the waiter even wrote it down. I ordered fried sea bream and rice and got one that was steamed and served with mashed potatoes. Daughter ordered shrimp and mashed potatoes and got shrimp and rice. Other daughter ordered a garden salad and received seafood salad. When they ask for your order it may be easier to just say, “Surprise me”. Overall the food was ok. Nothing exciting. Can’t forget it is at an all inclusive resort and not a 4 or 5 start restaurant. If I was paying extra for it, i wouldn’t be too happy. At least being all inclusive… you can always go back...

Abysmal service. Staff not properly trained and or insufficient staff. We waited 1hr 50 minutes before any food was served. Our starters were given away to another table. No explanation for delay and when we complained we were served a cold mains dish without any ordered sides!. Sum total of meal... 8 Calamari rings. Nothing to write home about. We also had to ask 3 times for drinks. As this was a dinner to celebrate our granddaughter's 18th birthday it has been a huge disappointment. Honestly I don't think 1...
