The Grill — Restaurant in Higüey

Overall, this was one of our better meals at the all-inclusive Excellence Punta Cana. Partially, because we lowered our expectations and partially because we avoided any of the steak products.

We were encouraged to try this restaurant, since there seemed always be a throng of very excited guests waiting at the door before it opened. We were greeted and seated promptly. As usual at EPC, the service was excellent and attentive.

The cheese bread starter with trio of chimichurri dips was good. Each of the chimichurri dips had a different flavor profile and the “hot” dip had a nice smoky finish.

The premium burger was good enough. I was surprised that was served on fresh house-made roll. The burger is advertised as being 7 ounces, but I doubt it was more than three or four ounces pre-cooked based on the size.

The yogurt marinated chicken was a little dry, but otherwise edible.

Ate here on 3/3/2022. Got here late and had to wait for a table. Once again, they did not come out and get us. I went back in to check, and they acted like they didn’t remember me? Our waiter was NOT very good. We had to ask for bread, and he brought us out some weird bread that was different than what all the other customers had. Not sure what the deal was. We tried to order 2 appetizers, but our waiter heard the first and ran off. Not sure what that was all about? When it came out it was a glob of cheese with 2 small crackers? I ordered the fillet and my wife ordered the ribeye. My fillet was good, a bit small but good. My sides were the smallest baked potato I have ever seen and a very, very small piece of corn on the cob. My wife’s ribeye was about 5mm thick. I have never seen a ribeye cut that small. The food tased good, just keep in mind to order 2 or 3...

We had the top dining experience of our vacation tonight at this restaurant thanks to excellent food and five star service from Amable. He was a truely professional waiter who made us feel like VIPs with attentive service, warmth and attention to detail. Absolutely hands down the best service we have had at this resort over several visits. Thank you Amable, you should be training all the wait staff. Food was excellent, especially the beef ribs, the yellow chimichurri sauce and the(not on the menu but brought by Amable while we looked at the menu)...
