Update: December 2024. For the 3rd year in a row, we had the pleasure of a magical Christmas dinner at Tio Belo. As in the past, each course was delicious. We were greeted with a loving welcome, as if old, dear friends now. Our only regret is we do not live in town to dine here weekly. Thank you Monica for sharing the holiday with your patrons and making it special for everyone. We look forward to seeing you again in December. Many blessings to you and your wonderful staff!

Original: December 2023. Dining at Tio Belo is always an experience filled with love and light! We attended Christmas dinner for the 2nd year in a row last week. Who could imagine the magic could surpass last years meal! You must know that the service and meals are surperb any day of the week, not only the special dinners! (Please note: we do not live in town or would eat here weekly!!) We have dined here at least 10x, and every visit, we were welcomed as if friends to their home. Monica greats you with the welcoming spirit of her most beloved friend. Every dish is prepared with skill, love and, art! We dream of their tortellini soup and tirimisu and the warmth and kindness that accompany every visit until we can...

This is “right off the boat“ authentic Italian cuisine!

The menu is authentic to the region of Italy which it represents. The portions are authentic to Italy, and not “Americanized“ with huge mounds of multiple things. As in Italy, if you order a veal scallopini, which is absolutely delicious btw, then that’s what you get. If you want grilled veggies to go with it, you must order that separately, same with pasta or any other plate.

The food is uncomplicated and delicious. Monica, the owner“, is attentive to every detail, watches the quality of everything, and is table side when you need her.

The wine list, although not large, is well curated with some fantastic choices. It is a must visit restaurant while in LasTerrenas! I have property in Los Angeles, and I never miss a meal at Tio Bello when I am in town!

Because it is so good and not a large place, I recommend a reservation. If you chance a walk-in, then you may be turned away.

If I am honest, there is one thing that is not “five star”, and that is just that it is on the main street and can get a little loud. That is not the restaurant’s fault, just the nature of...

2025 - always delicious food! Had scallopini with lemon sauce… so good. And the sautéed veggies with garlic were awesome. Hubby had linguini with truffles and loved it. The bread was so fresh and yummy, and the coffee tasty. Really great Italian food!

We heard that they were under new management and decided to try again. Excellent food, great service and cozy atmosphere.

They brought some bruschetta and a small glass of white wine when we arrived. Then I had the tortellini in sage butter, and although a bit too al dente for me (like it a bit softer), it was delicious! My husband had tagliatelle with mushrooms and truffle… he loved it. A fun chocolatey twist to their tiramisu. An offered chupito (small after dinner shot) was delicious… we chose a liquorice flavoured one, which we both loved. One of our...

Our accommodation host told us about this place....another Italian. We were in luck, Tio Bello just reopened today. The service was great. While we waited we were offered a welcome drink and a slice of bruschetta each. We shared a tortellini alla vecchia Modena which was delicious. My husband ordered scallopine di maiale and I had gamberi al Ron plus 2 portions chips. Both portions were very tasty and also abundant! We had 1 glass of wine, one coke zero, one espresso and were offered a limoncello. We paid Dop 3,350 (approx 56€). Unfortunately they haven't sorted out paying with credit cards yet :( It was one of our best meals since we've been in the Dominican Republic and we definitely recommend Tio Bello! Thanks

The food at “Tio Belo” in Las Terrenas is so scrumptious that it makes you even forget (and forgive) that you are roadside, and what a road the Duarte is! It does help, too, that the vibes are also as good as the cuisine, what with the kind and attentive service provided by staff and management. For a veggie guy like yours truly, pasta is the way to go, both handmade and dry. And the latter is the best the market can buy, that cooks can cook, and it’s ALWAYS served al dente, which is the only way to enjoy it, needless to add. Kudos to owner Monica, manager Francesca and their fantastic chef and staff.
