CAFÉ 401 — Restaurant in Santo Domingo

Service was VERY slow. The waiter told me they ran out out what they needed to make the pancakes, but only told me that after a 25 minute wait. My coffee was cold and not plentiful. I should have ordered it with milk as I think the warm milk added heat and volume to a otherwise lackluster cup of coffee. The pancakes where not what i expected (made out of oatmeal) but where not bad. The eggs and bacon would have been good, but they where cold because they made them before they realized they didnt have the ingredients for the pancakes. Showed a picture to the waiter as to how we wanted the pancakes (plain, no fruit or whip cream) request was ignored and while i actually enjoyed the toppings, my wife did not. She barely touched her plate.. No fruit juices where offered except lemon, and it was not that good. All in all, this is a one and done for me. Still looking for a solid place with a good American breakfast, this one left me...

Cafe 401 is such a delightful spot! The moment you walk in, you’re met with this cozy, laid-back vibe that makes you want to stay for hours. The space is small but full of personality, with cute decor and an atmosphere that feels just right.

The food is absolutely wonderful. Every dish tastes fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Whether you’re grabbing a quick coffee or sitting down for a full meal, you can’t go wrong. The coffee is especially on point—smooth, rich, and exactly what you need to kickstart your day.

But what really makes Cafe 401 special is the service. The staff is so friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home. And if you’re lucky, you’ll spot the owner there too. You can tell how much heart he’s put into this place, and it shows in every little detail.

Overall, it’s the perfect spot to chill, eat great food, and soak up good vibes....

Food. ( PANCAKES AND EGGS ) were not cooked thoroughly, ( THOUGH AT MY REQUEST THE EGGS WERE TAKEN BACK AND COOKED RIGHT ). Coffee was diluted ( A LOT ) as if the water had just been ran through the coffe maker and sprinkled with a pinch of ground coffee. We also asked for a chinola ( PASSION FRUIT ), and piña ( PINEAPPLE ) juices and they were even worse than the coffe. ( AGAIN ). the juices taste like water with a pinch of each fruit added to it for flavoring. The place was great. Cozy, very good music, nice lication, but NONE OF THESE makes up for bad tasting and undercooked...
