It's been four years since I had come to La Scarpetta, and i really wanted to have a perfect nice italian meal... I'm a pastry chef and I have traveled to Italy to eat and learn about their food and I was craving some. Good italian confort food. The place is charming and cozy, like entering a small local italian Ristorante and the place was full so I waited happily for a table for two... I dint know if I was down on my luck that night, nut my overall experience was not a nice one.
I ordered a glass of wine which was served on a small and thick rimmed wine glass and when I complained about it they said that the god wine glasses where for wine ordered by the bottle 🤔 (I could order a whole wine bottle for just my husband and me). The shrimp we ordered was over priced, the tagliata overcooked and cut along the fiber (we ordered it medium and received I well done, they had to redo it) the pasta was just OK and our chairs where plastic (we asked to be seated inside)..the only thing I liked was the dessert and it could have been better without the nuts on top. It wasn't a cheap dinner nor the most expensive one, (aprox 50 dollars p/p) but I didn't enjoy it at all. I would have had a more cohesive and better experience for that same price at other restaurants I go to. This restaurant is a classic here so I did expect more but maybe I just...
Read moreWell I was expecting way more from a authentic Italian restaurant to be honest... I got an appetizer which was really good in taste but not impressed by, then i got 2 main dish where i can easily point out that the first one (was supposed to be a lasagna turned out to be a frozen dish that they just reheat) and put it on top of a raw sauce in the dish... it was lacking of flavors, sauce, cheese and the mainly thing I could tasted was nutmeg... (tmi but was not good on my stomach either) then the 2 dish was gramigna con salsicci and its was barely any flavors on it however luckily i could finish this one. Finally got the dessert that was an orange ice cream and i can say was the best thing about the night it was authentic orange gelato with amazing flavors and as I said the best thing i got from there. Also I'd like to add that the costumer service was so efficient and kind indeed a great experience from...
Read moreIt’s a true gem. A very warm and honey ambience, excellent for family meals. The plates are very well presented, the portions are more than enough. You can appreciate the quality of the ingredients. The drinks were cold enough and the service was amicable and prompt. We had the tagliatelle which was tasteful, the Burrata, and a spaghetti alla scoglio (seafood and tomatoes sauce) that were really good. The kids had the penne alla Bolognese and the plate was empty without hesitation. I would recommend some sort of sound buffer, since the inner saloon was buzzing in conversations to kind of reduce the noise. Also there are tables in a part outside, Cafe like alley, but the temperature nowadays wouldn’t be pleasant ser lunch time. Definitely would return, and try the desserts but this time we left please and full. Lots of parking too. Most visitors were families with...
