We have eaten at Dolcerie before, but this was our first visit for brunch. We were a group of five and had made a booking accordingly, only to find that although we arrived on time, no table was available. After a fairly frank exchange of views a table was quickly prepared and things ran smoothly from there on. An update, having gone to celebrate a friend's birthday. Unbelievably we had a repeat of the booking fiasco. A booking for a large group had been made, but when we arrived at the appointed time, they said they had arranged only two tables, one inside and one out, farcical in itself, but still with nowhere like sufficient seating for the booked group. We were left standing in the entrance for close to an hour, before we managed to get any seats and an hour and forty minutes before we finally got a drink. It was nearly another hour to finally secure seating for the whole group. The service afterwards was not bad and the food good, but in no way made up for the initial farce. Dolcerie need to sort out their booking arrangements which are an unmitigated shambles, made worse by the staff's apparent indifference to solving the issue they have created. The only bright spot was the live music, an excellent group who had the entire restaurant...
Read moreI was visiting family and wanted to treat them to brunch. I've saw this restaurant on a post from an influencer I follow, and i knew this was the perfect place to take them to. I made a reservation and was greeted by a lovely hostess. Then, everything went downhill from there. The service was pretty awful to say the least. It took about 25 minutes for the waiter to take our order. Beverages arrived on a timely manner, but our food took over 45 minutes. Only to then have to wait another 15 minutes to get my meal, because only 3 dishes were delivered from the kitchen. Food was tasty, but you could tell it had been sitting in the kitchen for a while, because it was warm and not hot like it should've been. If the place would've been crowded, it could excuse the bad service, but it was not. The waiter didn't even stopped by our table to see if we needed beverage refills. One of the things I did like was the valet parking, and the restaurant ambiance. I was so excited to try this restaurant, but at the end of it all, it didn't meet my...
Read moreWe’ve lived in Santo Domingo for 5 years and finally crossed the door of La Dolcerie in Piantini. We were very impressed with the attention by our servers - they seem to be trained in a teamwork style environment, because various servers helped throughout our time. The menu is varied with selections from sandwiches to risottos to meats to Japanese. We ordered the monfonguito with shrimp - an appetizer that come with 3 portions that was a good starter for our table of 2. My husband ordered the gnocchi that was made with plantain and enjoyed it very much and I ordered the poké bowl with spicy tuna. Both dishes were wonderful and well portioned - not oversized portions by any means, but along with the appetizer we were very satisfied. For a dining experience with white table cloths, wonderful food with great variety and a bakery that we didn’t even try, we WILL return to La Dolcerie again. Highly recommended. TIP: breakfast is served until noon - next time we will try their...
