Porta D'oro — Restaurant in Giza

Unfortunately we did not have a good experience here. There seemed to be a mix up with our order, though none of this was explained to us, but we waited a long time for our food. Eventually, after I prompted the waiter, the lasagna I ordered was brought to the table. My partner's dish did not even come out at the same time. The lasagna was stone cold and dry and had obviously been left out a long time before arriving at the table. I relayed this to one of the staff and without apology or explanation, they took the lasagna back. When they brought it again, it was still cold and even dryer as they had just attempted to reheat the same piece of lasagna but unsuccessfully. I ate a few bites but left it to the side as it was inedible. The waiters and the manager on shift did not come over to check on us and ignored us until we finally flagged one of the staff again and explained that we would not be paying for the lasagna. They took it off our bill but again failed to acknowledge or apologise. Personally, I love the internal decorations of this place. Gives off an old west pub vibe but with a twist of a fine dining experience. I personally think that lighting is a bit too low and needs to increase a bit but it gives off a nice vibe if you're into that. Service is excellent, staff are knowledgable and very friendly. Soups are pretty average there is nothing creative with them, just your good old classic Mushroom/ Creamy chicken soup. Garlic bread with Marinara was my favorite (it is a welcome appitzer). Mix fried appitizers was delicious, I am just confused why does it have fried chicken strips as it doesn't really fit but overall taste very good. Salami Pizza was spot on, Salami slices were thick, cheese was well spread overall a pretty good pizza. Cordon Bleu tasted superb BUT it had a soggy crust that was very disappointing as it ruined the texture. It was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Today was one of our worst experience. I went with my friend craving real Italian pizza made in a brick oven Napoli style. And we had a flat bread pizza! A horrible salad with non fresh chicken and ingredients! And unpleasant conversation wit the restaurant manager! He kept arguing with us that we are wrong and we shouldn’t be complaining cuz all the customers like the food that we’re refusing to eat and pay for, I even showed him the pizza they’re showing on the tv screen and they had and he told me that this is just commercial video and it’s not their menus or the food they make! They basically got this video off YouTube but it’s not their restaurant! His talk with us was so annoying that we couldn’t even finish our drinks before we decided to run away from this place as fast as possible! I used to be a regular customer at this place before I traveled abroad! And now it’s one of the least recommended places Id tell anyone to try....
