Duchess — Restaurant in New Cairo City

FIRST AND LAST TIME TO EVER EAT AT DUCHESS.

In short: -irresponsible inattentive hostess -an averagely rude and bittersweet waiter service -food we ordered wasn't cooked the way we requested it to be -Food barely average for the overly priced charges; yet pancakes were superb!

First it was a Saturday morning and we intended to have breakfast at 11 but since it was crowded indoors in the morning + no pre-reservation per the receptionist's answer on our phone, we showed up at 2:30 p.m. as per his recommendation for a higher chance of getting an indoor place for 5 persons.

Upon entering, he hostess wasn't attentive of us at all! She guided us to a table of 5 under the shade in the outdoor area since indoor places were not available. Yet, we found another better area with more shade but in the restaurant next to them, yet we didn't know until later when the waiter of that restaurant came.out and handed us their menu, abd by then, the Duchess' hostess have guided another group of 5 to our previous table carelessly. When I went and confronted her: "why haven't you told ua that this table isn't relayed to your restaurant?" She responded goofly smiling: "I was looking at you waiting dor you to notice my eyes gestures :)))" - SO PROFESSIONAL, WOW!

And the whole time we spent in the restaurant, the hostess along with most of the waiters were practically giving us the rudest couldnt-care-less attitude except one waiter (who I didn't catch his name) who actually threw a good smile on his face and set down our food platters.

Regarding the food: We ordered Chicken or Egg, Americano Breakfast,Croque Madame, 2 Ulster Fry, and Scottish Cheese Sandwich along with Orange Juice.

Sunny egg of both Ulster Fry plates were supposed to be medium and an actual sunny egg, haha unfortunately they were from medium and being sunny at all, as seen in the photos.

Orange juice tasted awful; tasted more of gone bad orange juice!

Only good "part of a plate" was their pancakes with their maple syrup and delicious butter on top, in the Americano dish.

Also, just to be fair, we asked for an indoor area as soon as a space for 5 was vacant, and this was delivered and plates were transferred accordingly.👌

Other than that, total mess, unrespectful and non-welcoming staff, and a compelete...

Taste and Quality The taste and quality of the food at Duchess were outstanding. Every bite was a delight, showcasing fresh ingredients and skilled preparation. It’s clear that the chefs take pride in their work, and it truly shows in the flavors.

Service Our server, Amer, provided exceptional service throughout our meal. He was attentive and friendly, ensuring that we had everything we needed. The manager, Abanob, was equally impressive. His professionalism and timely responses to our requests added to the overall positive experience.

I recently had a wonderful lunch at Duchess Restaurant, and what truly elevated the experience was the outstanding service provided by Moamen. His attentiveness, professionalism, and warm personality made our visit exceptionally pleasant.

Moamen demonstrated an impressive ability to anticipate our needs—even before we voiced them. One standout moment was when my friend and I ordered tomato soup. Typically, I would share a single bowl with my friend, but to our surprise and delight, Moamen took the initiative to serve the soup in two separate bowls without us having to ask. It was a simple gesture, but it reflected genuine thoughtfulness and attention to detail.

The meal itself was delicious and satisfying, but it was Moamen’s exceptional service that made the experience memorable. He took the time to recommend the best options, ensuring we had a seamless and enjoyable dining experience from start to finish.
