Don’t come here if you’re a white foreigner. My first trip to El Salvador I came here because it was the highest rated nightlife option on TripAdvisor.
I was told they were at capacity, but then stood there and watched as they let at least 10 people in right in front of me. Went for a walk and came back about 20 minutes later and was told the same thing as I approached the door. Again, scores of people were let in almost immediately afterwards.
I was wearing a Canali dress shirt, Ferragamo sneakers, and nice jeans (not ripped). I wasn’t drunk as I hadn’t had anything to drink yet. I’m clean cut. The staff at the front door, with poker faces, gave me the unmistakable look that I wasn’t welcome. I can only conclude it’s because I’m a gringo. The door guy told us they were at capacity, we looked in the window and they weren't half full. Then 3 El Salvadoran local girls came up and he let them in right in front of us. Between the three of us we were ready to spend 500 to 1000 dollars. Go to rooftop bar, they greeted us with open arms and we bought a bottle of Don Julio anejo. They didn't discriminate so they got our business. They shook our hands and told us to have a good time. Republik gives El Salvador a bad reputation. I've been all over the world and never been turned away because I was a white foreigner. I'm...
