Having spent a total of 9 weeks in three stays during the last few months, I regret to say that I am not looking forward to return to this hotel. Indeed, the personnel is kind enough (specially on the restaurant), but quite frankly that is to be expected and taken for granted on a hotel with these rates. Please see below the motives I found determining for not wanting to continue using this hotel:
The mobiliary, while in a reasonaly good shape, is old. Not only it looks dated, it lacks functionality. Most hotels these days provide ergonomic chairs, for example.
The beds are quite uncomfortable. I have been in three different rooms already, and found that this is a pattern.
The internet connection is excrutiatingly slow. I find it hard to believe that at home I'm paying a standard fee (less than the rate for a night at this hotel) to get both lighting fast internet access and HD cable TV, and yet when I stay at a so-called "deluxe room" on an international hotel I have to put up with such a sub-standard service.
There is no wireless internet access from the rooms. Considering that an important factor on the hotel business is to provide comfort, it is strange that we have to be bound to the desktop to have internet access. Or have to turn on my computer, in a time in which mobile devices with wi-fi access are getting more common every day. Also, there is wi-fi in the public areas, but the signal is poor and coverage is limited.
The hotel clearly has an inclination to operate over capacity. It often happens that one has to wait in order to get a table for breakfast. Considering that I am traveling for work, and don't decide myself at which time I have to leave for the office, this can be quite an inconvenience. More on that: this hotel does not count with facilities to allow for events (such as weddings, parties or similar) to be held without disturbing the guests. And yet, consistently twice per week there are such events taking place. Sure, if one happens to be on a room facing the area where the event is happening, a room change is offered if availability allows for it, but it's not a proper solution to have to pack all my stuff and move to another room just because the hotel considers it's right to throw a wedding party right under the guest-room windows.
The laundry service is unreliable. Today I left my clothes to be picked up in the morning, expecting to have them back by the time I returned from work. When I returned in the early evening, I found instead that my laundry was still sitting there. Upon contacting the front desk, I received no explanation about this, only some sincere but useless apologies. I requested to have somebody pick up my laundry (which now will take another day to return), and forty minutes later I had to call again because nobody showed up.
The restaurant menu is quite limited in options. Even for a person of ample tastes, the available options will get old in less than two weeks.
For all those reasons, I will have to advice the company that brought me here to look for other alternatives in the future. It is not my intention to cause the hotel to lose the considerable business this company brings, but I will not expose myelf to such inconveniences any further if I...
Read moreThis hotel is in a great location and if you go by the pictures they post on their site and other travel sites, you would think you are getting an amazing hotel at a great price.
In actuality, you are staying at a hotel property with a luxury name, at a luxury price that has fallen into disrepair and not only has been ignored by its large chain brand, but that charges ridiculous prices for everything ($3.75 for 6 ounce cup of watered down orange juice, $15 for 1 egg and dried out refried beans from a can as breakfast), and slaps small bandaids over large problems.
Judging by the picture, you would expect a beautiful pool with full flowing man made waterfall splashing into it.
In actuality, the man made waterfall is falling apart and barely drips a small stream of water into the pool. Except when they needed to operate the waterfall for a wedding party, then it was full flowing and leaking into the covered grotto below it.
I tried posting pictures of this dripping faucet of a waterfall, but the file was too big and it wouldn’t take. However I was able to upload it with other pictures I took of San Salvador, so maybe you can find it if you look for it.
The pool floor is cracking and needs a paint job and patch work done to cement (not to mention a power washing to get rid of years of stains).
So they can make the waterfall flow for wedding photos, but not for paying guest staying there because of the misleading photos they advertise???
The building is in desperate need of a paint job, cement and stucco repairs. The carpets and drapes are warn and probably 20years past their usefulness.
The ice machines on every floor are broken and if you want ice, you will need to go ask for it at the bar.
The TV’s are nice, but no premium channels and while the show American networks like CNN, Fox, NBC New York and others in the lobby and restaurant, they are unavailable in the hotel rooms.
The grass parts of the property are well maintained but there are dead palm trees and flower beds throughout the property.
Several dried out ponds and other landscape features that either no longer work or are falling apart from years of neglect (this is not pandemic related in my opinion).
Our mini refrigerator had mold growing on the plastic shelves and left over lime and fruit pieces from prior guest (who knows how long ago).
Lime scale buildup on the shower heads, despite being a nicely appointed bathroom. The beds and bedding were fairly comfortable.
Hallway carpets are worn out and need replacing. There are several quails that roam the property like chickens and are fun to watch.
Walls in the hallway show cracks and fatigue damage. You can see where quick plaster patches were done, some not even painted. Just quick patches to cover leaks and other problems.
The staff was great and very attentive. They were helpful and went out of their way for the guest, but you can tell they can feel the lack of support from the Sheraton brand. They know the hotel is not showing the proper level of care for the property and do their best to over come the lack of appreciation the brand is showing...

Highlights: They will cancel your reservation with no notice or attempt to contact you if you don't prepay for your room. Rooms that are 85+°F when you walk in them. My bed had 4 ants in it 3 of which were giant. After notifying the front desk about the bugs in my bed and much persistence on my end they agreed to move me to a different room for the night. They notified me that I would have to change rooms yet again the next day because someone else had that room reserved. The second room I had, which was on the club level floor, had hairs that weren't mine in the sheets when I got the room. Then when I went to use the toilet it wouldn't flush. Sadly this was still an improvement over my previous room.
The next day when I got back from work I had to go to the front desk to get them to reactivate my key card because they had deactivated it to ensure I changed rooms.
The room they moved me to, also on the club level, had moldy stained sheets, visibly dirty carpet that had obviously not been vacuumed before I got the room, gum was ingrained in the carpet, the walls were all marked up, the toilet had visibly not been cleaned, the counter in the bathroom had someone else's hair all over it, the baseboards were visibly dirty like they hadn't been dusted in years, the refrigerator didn't work, resulting in my lunch for the next day being ruined, a tub shower that wouldn't drain and sprayed water all over the floor when you turned the shower on. By the time I was done taking a shower the water was almost mid calf. The mirror in the bathroom looked like it came out of an old abandoned house. The magnification mirror in the bathroom was so old it had corroded and didn't even serve a purpose anymore.
Then let's go in to the hot water in the showers. The hot water once adjusted to a comfortable temperature would fluctuate between comfortable and scalding hot for the duration of your shower. It resulted in a very uncomfortable shower experience. The hotel also smelled very moldy on the 4th floor. Then icing on the cake the wifi is terrible and the gym is so bare bones it's almost pointless to have it.
Then when I met with the manager because I checked out early because there was no way I was spending one more night in this dump he said he would do something to make it right. The only thing he did was tell me that he would do something to make it right. Not only did he not follow up on his word, they still have yet to refund my money for the nights I refused to stay there due to the condition of all 3 rooms at the hotel. If I could give this hotel zero stars I would. I even went through the full bed bug protocol when I got home to be safe considering how dirty and disgusting this hotel was!!! Marriot should be ashamed to have their name associated with this...
