First off, the museum IS open as of March 7, 2025. There were a number of conflicting reports in the comments about the museum being closed over the last few weeks. It is definitely back open now.

That said, I was a little disappointed with my visit. They do have some interesting displays, but the layout is confusing. Much of the signage is available in Spanish and English, but some of the English translations are printed in a faint gray text which is nearly impossible to read in the dim light.

As others have pointed out, foreigners pay 10x what locals pay and, honestly, the quality of the content doesn’t merit the $10 entrance fee.

A map of the museum, even if provided electronically, would be very helpful. There are no clear indications where the different rooms are and I nearly missed a few before stumbling into them purely by accident.

I had high expectations ahead of my visit, but left a...

During my visit to the Dr. David J. Guzmán National Museum of Anthropology (MUNA), I was disappointed to learn that non-citizens are charged 15 times the regular price compared to locals. While I understand that many cultural institutions offer discounted rates for residents, the extreme disparity in pricing feels discriminatory and unjust.

The museum itself is a valuable cultural and historical resource, and I appreciated the exhibits and information provided. However, the pricing policy left a negative impression and made me feel unwelcome as a foreign visitor. Charging non-citizens such a high fee creates a barrier to accessing cultural education and seems counterproductive to promoting El Salvador's heritage to the world.

I hope the museum reconsiders its pricing structure to ensure fairness and inclusivity for all visitors, regardless of...

Don't miss this excellent museum with well presented displays on the history and culture of El Salvador. Great exhibit on the impact of migration to the U.S. A nice mix of information and visuals to appeal to all ages. I loved the sections on spiritual beliefs, gods, and practices. Beautiful examples of pottery with shapes of animals and gods. Small but nice and well priced artisan gift shop. AND don't miss the chocolate shop, all of the varieties we bought were amazing! We spent 2 hours here reading most of the material, but you could enjoy it in less time. About 1/3 of the museum had information in English but the rest was pretty self...

It's a great museum where you can learn a lot about El Salvador history. I accompanied my brother because he needed to do a research for a project he has for his university. We went with my sister and sister in law too. We had a great time and learned a lot, take some pictures, etc. Inside the museum there's a survenir store, really pricey for locals I guess but very nice for travelers. This could be a really great visit for tourists that want to know more about our small but beautiful country El Salvador. There's also a very good restaurante next to it where you can have a good time with your friends after the visit to the museum.

That I got the chance to visit temporary exhibition on National Lottery of El Salvador. I can’t tell better than say that I really learn something new. I enjoyed the agriculture permanent exhibition which explores the agriculture development of the country and region. On the second floor there was an exhibition about African history in the country. There lot of other things to describe but to avoid more spoiling the backyard exhibition was very nice too. Just regret that museum shop store opens Saturday afternoon and I visited during the morning.
